I know a lot of people will disagree, but I really wished devs would focus more on improving the current game rather than adding new regions, pokemons, abilities, items etc. New pokemons, regions and hidden abilties create a lot of hype and I'm sure there is a huge surge of players when these updates hit, but I'm convinced this hype is very temporary. Once players finish the new storyline (a few hours), once they catch the new mons, they simply move on. The game remains the same.
The most game defining updates were the ones that made the game better. I'm talking about the update where IVs were finally revealed, the update where the GTL was launched, the update where we got a matchmaking ladder, those are the updates that made players stay because the game became more enjoyable.
With that being said, I hope devs will consider working on the following features and not tunnel their efforts on adding a pointless new region like Johto.
Social Features
Team Goals
Spoiler
I think it's a shame that, aside from getting a private ingame chat, teams have litteraly no purpose. This is an MMO!! How can teams still have no purpose after 10 years? I'm suggesting that just like matchmaking, teams should have the possibility of working towards achieving certain monthly goals.
Goals examples:
Breeding: Once a team breeds X number of 31s on a humanoid, each member of the team no longer have to pay for gender selection for humanoids for the rest of the month.
EVing: Once a team EVs X number of Speed, each member of the team receives 5 Carbos. (must log in during the month to claim that prize)
Leveling: Once a team earns X number of experience, each member of the team receives 3 Rare Candies (must log in during the month to claim that prize)
PVP: Once a team wins X number of duels in UU, each member of the team receives 5% more Battle Points when playing UU for the rest of the month.
Catching: Once a team captures X number of bug types, each member of the team receives 20 Net Balls. (must log in during the month to claim that prize)
The prizes don't need to be anything crazy or fancy, but it would be really nice if players were incentivize and rewarded for working together.
Community Chats
Spoiler
Right now the only types of group chats that exist ingame are Team Chat and Link Chat. Team Chat is enable automatically. Link Chat only works when you manually link up with players every time you log in. Obviously, there is a missed opportunity here. The players would really benefit from more chats options.
What I have in mind is to simply have the possibility to join "Communities" within the game and just like the teams, once you join a community, you have permanent access to the chat of that community. If we had communities in game, it would be easier to organize spontenous tournaments, catching events or just engaging in w.e discussion a specific community might be interested in. Little Cup players, Untiered players, Monotype players and other unofficial tiers players would really benefit from community chats in order to find players to duel or train against.
Tools Features
Filters
Spoiler
Whether we look at the GTL, the PC, the Pokedex or the Matchmaking statistics, filters play a big part in making these tools useful. I wouldn't complain if we got more filters to work with.
Examples:
Matchmaking statistics: Filtering the usage data and win rate data based on ELO would help tremendously in figuring out what is viable and how the metagame is evolving.
PC: Filtering the PC to find Alpha Pokemon or Hidden Abilties would be helpful.
Pokedex: Filtering the Pokedex based on custom criteria would allow players to create their own categories like "Monotype", "LC" or "Cute Pokemons I want to catch xoxoxo"
GTL: Filtering the GTL based on pokemon moves would help players a lot when breeding for egg moves.
There are tons of different filters that can be useful. I understand that if there are too many options, it will become overwhelming for players and it will also be challenging to fit everything on the same interface. If there is way to add more filters, that's good, but realistically I understand that not every filtering option should be considered.
Thank you a lot for adding a search bar for players when spectating on ladder btw.
Trackers
Spoiler
It's common practice in an MMO to share resources with others. However, it can be very annoying to keep track of every single item, cosmetic or pokemon that was borrowed from you. If players could have the possibility to place trackers on their pokemon, it would make sharing easier. When a pokemon has a tracker on, it can't be sold or traded to anyone that is not the owner of that pokemon. When someone wants to trade a pokemon for good, all that person would have to do is remove the tracker before trading and the new owner can place his own tracker on the pokemon. I understand that this might sound weird, but it is very annoying not remembering who borrowed what (with items or without).
A feature like trackers would also mean staff would no longer have to waste time handling claims of missing pokemon or accusations of theft.
PVP Features
Battle Counters
Spoiler
This has been requested multiples times already, so I won't say too much. Basically, during battle, getting to see how many turns of Weather, Screens or Trick Room that are left would be very useful. Same goes with PP. Players would be able to focus on the gameplay instead of counting the number of turns or pps.
If for w.e reason adding battle counters could present some issues, a middle ground solution would be to add the number of each Turn in the combat log. Counting PP or Trick Room turns is easier when the chat log tells you Trick Room was used on Turn 6 for instance.
Automated Tournaments Hosting
Spoiler
The only way for players to host automated tournaments is to manually set up their tournaments with staff. It would be nice if instead of going through this time taxing process for both the players or staff, players would get the option ingame to host their own automated tournaments. Out of all the suggested features so far, this is probably the most complex to implement, but it would be a game changer. When more autonomy is given to the players, both players and staff are happy.
Warning Message when signing up for Matchmaking while playing a tournament
Spoiler
This may sound silly, but the number of players (including myself) that constantly get screwed over because they signed up for matchmakign instead of their tournament duel is astronomical. The interface is very similar and one can easily be deceived.
I realise that I suggested a lot of different things and there is little chance that these things will be implemented. That's fine. My point is not that these specific things should be implemented. I just would prefer if devs would work on features similar to the ones I suggested rather than implenting new pokemon, new abilities, new regions, new items, etc. Kyu said somewhat recently that Devs have limited content that they can release, so please don't rush. We don't need Assault Vest on top of Hidden Abilties. We don't need Johto in Spring 2023. Imo, it would be best to slow down the content release and refocus on improving the current game with more player friendly features.
Edit:
Other Social Features I did not mention because they were suggested mutliple time already:

New content attracts new players and gets old players to come back. A better game will get players to keep on playing.
