Recommended Posts

Explanation

Create your own unique Pokeball designs, taking into mind its name, primary and secondary functions, price, catch rate, purpose of the ball, where it should be sold and providing this information with your entry. Each entrant can design up to 3 Pokeballs but only one Pokeball will be chosen as the winning design. Judging will be based on the originality of design and function as well as how useful it is for Pokemon trainers. The design can target a certain trainer rather than all trainers. Hand drawn or digital art are welcome but all entries must be your own work.

Pokeball Template

Feel free to use the template below as a base for your designs but you do not have to use this and are welcome to use your own Pokeball sketch. The right Pokeball is transparent.

So when can we show our work? and can the pokeball be animated?

Hello, it will start the 1st August to the 15th August but you can do it now if you want. Keep it in a folder to post here on the 1st August~15th August.

Yes your pokeball can be animated because it's not in the rules to respect. ^^

Is it ok if we post the pictures of our pokeball concepts, then regularly type out the use/effects of it in the post? Also, does quality particularly matter? Or is it just the idea of the design?

Yes that is fine. Also the art does not have to be perfect, just as long as it represents the general design.

Greetings! Here are my entries for this

The Cash Ball

Summary: Ever had that day in PokeMMO where there's no tournaments or anything going on? So you're like "Screw it, I'm gonna go payday grind." So you start payday grinding and get bored immediately after about 20 or so minutes. To ensure you get more bang for your buck, I have a solution. This here is the Cash Ball, and you can purchase it for $400 dollars a ball. When you use payday against something, the amount of money you get is the level of the pokemon x 10 correct? Well if you catch that pokemon with a Cash Ball here, it does the exact same thing, but times 20!

Example: Say that you just felled a lvl58 Parasect in Cerulean Cave. You used payday and it didn't die, and then you threw a Cash Ball at it. You would get $580 dollars plus $1160 dollars, so you already make your money back from buying the cash ball and the extra bonus of paydaying like normal. So for defeating one lvl58 Parasect, you would get a grand total of $1740 for just one encounter!

I believe that this ball will help with the woes of money grinding :)

EDIT: This ball has the same catch rate as a Great Ball, so a 1.5x increase from normal Poke Balls

EDIT 2: This ball can be bought in the Cerulean City Poke Mart and the Poke Mart in Island Four of the Sevii Islands

The Replay Ball

Summary: Ever had that moment when you're grinding for Ditto to genderless breed and it takes ages to catch them? Only to find out the IVs are horrible? I believe the Replay Ball can help with this! This ball is a rare type of Poke Ball that can only be bought from the Island Two market ran by the upstart business clerk. This ball can be a little pricey, costing the same as an Ultra Ball ($1200 dollars), but the reward is worth it! When you toss this ball at a pokemon and it catches the target successfully, you can actually release the pokemon inside if it is not at the caliber you would want it to be. And not only is the pokemon released, but you get the Replay ball that you caught it with back in your inventory! This can be a very handy tool in looking for potential breeders/Dittos.

This ball has nearly the same capture rate as an Ultra Ball, but slightly lower, the rate is 1.8x of a normal Poke Ball

The Comic Ball

For all you action/comic book fans out there, I bring to you the Comic Ball! This energetic poppy ball has all your favorite sound effects and actions! POW, BANG, POP, SMACK, etc etc! But the effects aren't just for show. You can buy this ball from an energetic collector of comic books in Saffron City, and he even gives you one for free! After that, it will cost $1500 dollars to buy more, from him only. When you throw this at a Pokemon, they will gain a random "superpower" for an hour. These superpowers can range from a lot of things, and I will list them below:

Possible "superpowers" the caught pokemon can obtain from the comic ball!

Super Strength- a 1.5x attack boost

Elasticity- Increased attack base power

Super Speed- a 1.5x speed boost

Iron Jaw- a 1.5x defense boost

Intelligence- a 1.5x special stat boost (for both sp atk and sp def)

Seasoned Veteran- a 1.5x exp boost

Heat Vision- A 50% increase to crit ratio

Invisibility- A 50% increase to your evasion

And if you're really lucky, you'll get Collector- The caught pokemon will give you a rare item every 15 minutes (Lucky Egg, Vitamins, Braces, and even 40k in solid cash!)

The catch rate of the Comic Ball is the same as an Ultra Ball also! I had a lot of fun with this idea.

More to come when I have time.

Ball #1
[spoiler]

The Safari Poke-Wiffleball

This specially designed ball is used for safari play only and cannot be bought outside of any Safari Zones. The general concept is simple, a pokeball that can be thrown in crazy, unpredictable patterns causing the opposing pokemon to become 'caught off guard' which increases its catch rate by 25%. Created to simplify the catching of harder, more rare pokemon inside of the safari zone. In order to use such a ball, the price is a bit more costly, as it jumps to Pok%C3%A9monDollar.png10,000 and you get half the amount of balls aside from using normal safari balls (15 balls).
The vents in the ball allow air flow to go through the ball rather than around it, allowing it to be thrown and become more susceptible to the turbulence, causing it to break and curve a lot more when comparing to a regular pokeball.
Keeping the design in line with the normal safariballs camo appearance, the Safari Poke-Wiffleball has a top red camo to give it a more unique upgraded appearance. and is also fitted with multiple vents to create is curved throws and massive breaks when thrown. As the ball captures said pokemon, the vents in the ball close and seal themselves to prevent and 'accidents' from occurring once the pokemon has been pulled into the ball.

Lock-On Ball

c7e19546d25977c16b1df6b5d84dbdfe.png

The Lock-On Ball shares similar features to a Weezing. It combines a larger ball to a smaller ball, similar to Weezing's larger head and smaller head. The metallic, robotic design ensures that the Lock-On Ball is following futuristic technologies in the world of Pokemon. The smaller ball compacts a hidden laser to track down the pokemon so it is visible to the trainer. However, the larger ball is able to sight pokemon at large distances and different lighting, similar to a Noctowl's. 74889971afe1185962498bc99750617b.pngno noctowls were killed during the process of creating this ballTherefore, the futuristic ability of the Lock-On Ball ensures that any pokemon is caught without fail, similar to the Masterball. However, the difference between the Masterball and the Lock-On Ball is that the Lock-On Ball is allowed to be used in the Safari Zone. Then, your precious safari shinies will not have to run away. The Lock-On ball is not available for sale, it is only limited to one per region, similar to the Masterball. In Kanto, the Lock-On ball can be obtained as an item at Ruin Valley, on island 6. However, to obtain the Lock-On Ball, the player must obtain all 28 different types of unowns and speak to an anonymous NPC (only available when all 28 unowns are caught), in which he will reward you with a Lock-On Ball, then fleeing. In Hoenn, after defeating Archie and Maxie to save Hoenn from Kyogre and Groudon, they flee off to an unknown place. They fled to a hidden base on route 133, knowing that trainers do not decide to travel on the disastrous currents.  Together, they started to develop the Lock-On Ball after realizing they failed with Kyogre and Groudon. Upon discovering where they were located, the player must complete puzzles of all the 8 gyms while encountering wild pokemon. Repels cannot be used. When Archie and Maxie discover what they were unleashing, they challenge you to a battle. Upon defeating them, they flee for good and leave behind a prototype of the Lock-On Ball. The player returns it to Professor Birch and he confirms that the prototype is safe to use, then obtaining the Lock-On Ball.
