Donations: (15.000.000 / 15.000.000) Made by eggroll Introduction; The PokeMMO Super League Welcome, to maybe the most competitive experience you will ever experience in your life time experience of PokeMMO. The PokeMMO Super League (or in short PSL) is a league where the best players clash against each other as their lazy ass managers sit back and enjoy the slaughter. Managers get appointed and set together their own team by buying players, which manager will be able to put together the champions of the second season of PSL? The FAQ section can be found at the end of this post. Managers: Managers are sort of the team leaders of their teams. Managers handle the team finances and appoint their players to their battles each week. As a manager you have the responsibility of the whole team on you, if something were to happen, you are held responsible for that. As a manager your most important role is (surprise, surprise) managing your team and also putting a team of players together. As a manager you will get 100.000cr at the beginning of a season. With these credits you can bid on players to try and get them in your team. More on this later. Once you got enough players for your team you’ll assign players to their battles of the upcoming week. You PM me with the list example: As a manager you can not participate in battles yourself. Also, once you are assigned a manager you should come up with a teamname that will carry through the whole season. Note that I will handpick managers from the sign up thread, it’s not on first come first serve basis. This is because managers are a vital part of the competition and I need to be sure that managers are players that will stay fairly active through the season. The Auction and player sign ups: After the managers are appointed it’s time for players to sign up. The sign up format looks like this: After all the sign ups are done I will make a thread with every player that signed up listed, the auction may begin! The minimum bid on any player will be 2.000cr, the minimum raise on an existing bid will be 250cr. So you can only raise by: 250, 500, 750, 1.250cr etc. This is to prevent annoying 1cr raises and other bullcrap. Obviously only managers can bid on players. The auction will last for about a week, if by that time some managers still don’t have enough players there will be additional time. As a player you don’t get to choose for which manager you want to play, the manager that has the highest bid on you will ‘own’ you and you’ll play for them, like some sort of contract. The auction will look like this: Amanu – Current highest bid: Team Wafflebusters 12.000cr Fujimura – Current highest bid: Team Sausage 5.000cr Marsus – Current highest bid: Team Parasect Overlords 5.250cr Felixxx – Current highest bid: - MsMayl – Current highest bid: Team NotSoSmart 25.000cr Managers can raise their bids by posting in the appropriate thread. So for example if the manager of team Parasect Overlords posts in the thread with: 5500 on Fujimura I will update the thread accordingly: Amanu – Current highest bid: Team Wafflebusters 12.000cr Fujimura – Current highest bid: Team Parasect Overlords 5.500cr Marsus – Current highest bid: Team Parasect Overlords 5.250cr Felixxx – Current highest bid: - MsMayl – Current highest bid: Team NotSoSmart 25.000cr Just remember as a manager you only have 100.000cr to get your team together. Also remember you might want to have some extra players in case some of your ‘main team’ can’t make it for a specific week.] Here is the first auction thread so you can see how it goes. The format: Again it will depend on the sign ups. You can expect these formats though: - PokeMMO OU - PokeMMO UU - PokeMMO NU - PokeMMO Doubles - ADV OU - X/Y OU PokeMMO Little Cup may happen. This depends on the update's support on the LC tier, the popularity/demand. And of course how quickly people can prepare LC Pokémon. PSL Schedule (assuming 8 teams): Week 1: Season start - Manager sign ups. Week 2: Player sign ups. Week 3: Player auctions. Week 4: Preparation week, optional extra auctions. Week 5-11: League Stages Week 12-13: Semi finals and Finals Week 14: MVP Cup PSL League Stages: http://challonge.com/psls2 every round is one week Prizes: Donators: Archinix, Pastelo, TheFireLion, PinkWings, OrangeManiac, YagamiNoir, Jayfeatskydd, LeTyrone, NoadHunter, NikhilR, Forfiter, Goldeneyes, overToasted, Yangsam, Twofist, Gunthug, Munya, Rigamorty, DustyBunny, xGilanx, fredrichnietze, mauru2, Jindu PovertyPBC, PovertyKut First of all the main prize is GLORY and you can call yourself the best of season 2 PSL! For now we will only give prizes to first place, sorry second place. 1st place prize: 1mil for each player of the team*, 2mil for the manager of the team *Note: players that played in less than 50% of the team's matches will get 500.000. MVP Cup winner: Shiny Beedrill (sponsored by Archinix) + Signature, Manager: 10.000 extra credits for the next season PSL Underdog: Shiny Ratata (sponsored by Yangsam) MVP Cup: The MVP Cup is the clash between the best of each team. The manager of the top 2 teams picks 2 players which may participate in the MVP Cup, to be seen PSL Underdog: For the biggest upset game. Updated: Regarding Sportsmanship:
You will respect your teammates and above all you will respect your manager. If you got drafted by a manager you don't like or want you will have to put these feelings aside. Signing up is like signing a contract, and these are conditions you have to accept. Disobeying your PSL duties will result in blacklisting. It’s fine to have a little bit of drama, in fact in can make the whole PSL experience more enjoyable. Don’t push it though and please refrain from flaming excessively. Try to keep interaction on a human level so we can all avoid large scale drama’s. Picking on players is fine as long as it doesn’t turn in to harassment.
Regarding ‘coaching’ or ‘ghosting’:
To all managers and players I would like to say please refrain from coaching someone or how some like to call it ‘ghosting’ matches. As a manager or a team member you should have confidence in the ability of your teammate. As a player standing from the sidelines you should have respect for a player’s ability. Helping with practicing is absolutely fine and helping with teambuilding is also good, in fact I would encourage these activities. The grey area is telling what an opponent’s Pokémon set could be or what a player should watch out for. Some battlers find this irritating as it can ruin the surprises but some are fine with it.
Regarding getting your battles done:
This is largely in the players’ hands and there is not much to do about it. I can however try to award the player that is actively trying to get his match done as opposed to neglecting someone’s effort. Follow these guidelines to get your battle done in time or to at least secure a victory for your team in case of player inactivity. Every week will have a separate thread with in it the week's match-ups and including a deadline for that week's matches. Within 48 hours after the Weekly Match-Ups are posted: PM your opponent with at least 3 different time ranges you will be available, at least 2 must be at least 24 hours apart. Post in the thread stating that you have contacted your opponent. If neither opponent does this: you risk a substitution (getting put out of a team due to inactivity) or a no-contest match. Don't risk yourself or your own team. Within 72 hours after the Weekly Match-Ups are posted: Respond to your opponent either agreeing to one of the proposed times or, if none of them work for you, respond with at least 3 time ranges that will work for you When a time is agreed on, post in the weekly thread with the time of the battle If you do not respond before the 72 hour limit: you must still respond 48 hours before the deadline. 48 Hours before the Weekly Deadline: If neither opponent has PM'd with a time: The match is considered no-contest and does not count for either team. If your opponent responds but doesn't do that within 72 hours of the Weekly Match-Ups are posted you are required to respond in 24 hours. You may accept the times given by your opponent or give 3+ new times that your opponent has to accept. If one opponent PM'd within the timeframe and did not receive a response from the other player: The player who did not respond forfeits the match. It is a Win for the player who sent a PM and a Loss for the player who failed to respond. Of course after the battle is done report in the weekly thread that you won or lost w/e. Huge thanks to Imgur for summarizing it in a clearer way and to Aldaron from Smogon for the system.
Updated: Regarding usage statistics:
Giving usage stats will be followed more strictly now: - Not giving Usage stats in a week will result in a yellow card. - A second yellow card will result in a red card. - A red card means you can't be play for 2 weeks. After these weeks you are down to 1 yellow card again. - I won't PM you as a reminder to give me your team. - If your opponent PMs me your team, I'll most likely add you to the conversation. Usage statistics are just a part of the PSL and as you signed up you agreed to the terms. I have to know the six Pokémon you used for whichever week so I can add it to the statistics. Now you can give me your team before or after your battle has been done. As I am a neutral party and absolutely unbiased I can promise you your team will not be exposed. If you already know which six Pokémon you are going to use I would advise you to PM me your team beforehand in case you forget. I will be participating in this one. In case you already battled you can still PM me but it’s also fine to state your team in the weekly thread. Whichever suits your biscuit best. If I don’t get a team from a player I will notify the manager of that player, if the player still neglects to do so I may give him a penalty (not being able to play matches for x weeks) or even substitution.
Regarding ADV OU and X/Y OU:
3rd gen OU, or ADV OU, like it's generally called is the 'complete' third gen meta. This means it follows the smogon rules for ADV OU. The list of OU Pokémon according to smogon can be found here, borderline, UU. Of course the third gen meta is not available on PokeMMO this is why these specific matches are played on Showdown. http://play.pokemonshowdown.com/ Team Builder:

Choose the correct format:

Make your team:

Note: Showdown shows all moves possible in all gens, however you can't use moves like Bullet Punch or Reversal on Dugtrio because they are not part the ADV OU meta. When challenging your opponent to a battle agree upon a time and a 'lobby' find your opponent and challenge him, choose the right format (3rd gen OU) and click challenge.

Any more questions may be asked in this thread do no sign up in this thread, let the boasting (and discussion) begin! FAQ:
What are credits, do you mean ingame money? No, credits are just a fake currency in which we'll be working with in the PSL. How do I become a manager? As previously stated, a manager has a big role in the entire competition. Active managers can be the thing that keeps a team on top. You could say a manger's most important task is strategically drafting players and putting together a dynamic team. But even after the draft you have to keep tabs on your players, do they do well in their format? Do they need a week off to make a better team? Is one going on a trip for 2 weeks? These are all things to consider during the league stages of the PSL. So communication with your players is the key to success. Because this is such an important task, I'll handpick managers myself. When you are thinking about applying as a manager consider this: - Can I stay active through the whole season? - Can I communicate well with my players? - Can I handle team finances? - Can I keep an eye on my players and those of the opponent - Do I have knowledge of the competitive scene and the players? - Will I keep interest, even when I'm on the losing side? If you can answer yes to all this questions it's pretty safe to sign up as a manager. However, it doesn't mean you will be picked. I'll generally pick players I know better faster than players I don't know at all. As long as I know these players can handle the manager status. If you are a somewhat regular forum poster, I'll probably recognize you and that will give you a better shot as well. Try to have the best motivation for being a manager and I might be impressed. I won't take applications with 1 or 2 lines seriously. Here are two applications from the previous sign ups that make me consider you:
In the end I didn't choose VatsugZ as a manager, although I liked his application it was a bit too 'jolly'. There was also the fact that I didn't know much about him and I didn't want to take any risks in the first season. I've seen Imgur around and his application was very well written with a great motivation and also a great background, it made him an excellent candidate.
Here is how not to do it
It's very short and doesn't tell me much. In the end Riga did become a manager because I knew him and I knew he would stick through the whole season. Basically Riga gets away with it because I know his traits. If I see far more impressive applications this season I'll probably give them a chance over applications like these, even if I know 'em.
How do I become a player in the PSL? Sign up when the sign ups are open of course! Every team needs players, but once a team fills up they won't need more. What this means is that singing up won't guarantee that you actually will be playing, even if you sign up first. Managers will likely be players that know the competitive scene well. Meaning that accolades are an important asset. If you are a player that only plays in Viridian and never show up in tournaments, chances are managers will prefer players that show up in tournaments. (Exceptions to this rule are for example: Blonde (pls respond)). Being an active forum member also helps, because subconsciously managers can be like 'hey I know this name..' and pick you above someone else. The easiest way is just to show up in tournaments (maybe win a round or two) and make good posts in competitive alley. I missed player sign ups, what now? There will be one more chance for you to sign up later on in the League Stages. Usually around week 4-5 of the league stages there will be mid season sign ups where managers have the option to buy additional players. Managers do have limited credits at this point, so it will be harder to get in if you miss the initial sign ups! Manager: Can I bid something like 300cr over an existing bid? No, you can only bid 250cr or 250 times 'x' credits over an existing bid. More to be added.
Usage Statistics: OU:

UU:

NU:

Doubles:

ADV OU:

X/Y OU:

She gets so Jealous when Ash compliments someone else. SHE WANTS THE D ASH, DON'T MESS THIS UP! THE POWER OF LOVE IS THE KEY TO WINNING THE ELITE FOUR! About Ash constantly losing, I'm not sure I mind anymore. The battle scenes in this series are really great, and are quite enjoyable. Atleast make him win some tournaments. They were all like "I don't see why people think PokeMMO is better, I guess it's because it's because PWO doesn't have breeding yet... or EVs... and half the moves/abilities are still broken... and the client is buggy.. but other than that I have no idea why people would play PokeMMO instead."

 35. Hello everyone! This is the first instatement of a "PokeMMO Development Blog". This is intended to be monthly or bi-monthly, and in the future, will contain concepts we are working on or have interest in working on. As there have been around 5 months of development with not a lot of indication of what we're doing, there's quite a bit to talk about. As has been said previously on our Forums, this update is primarily focused on handling our Kanto implementation's large amount of issues and preparing for our Emerald release later this year. Kanto Mechanics Polishing One of the main challenges in porting a single-player game to a multiplayer environment is reworking single-player-focused mechanics in order to create a sustainable gameplay experienced required for an MMORPG. This patch focuses on some of the worst offenders which would require players to create alternative characters for basic NPC functionality. Move Tutors Move tutors have always been a problem with old characters due to sometimes providing exclusive moves that can not be renewed except by trading to a new character. We've alleviated this by requiring in-game consumables for all Move Tutors and having them be able to be used unlimited times. Other regions' tutors have also been a subject of discussion, with us deciding to implement certain NPCs in the latter Sevii Isles areas which provide move tutor functionality normally exclusive to other regions. VS Seeker Rebalancing VS Seeker trainers have long been a source for extremely easy money gain due to the level disparities between an NPC and a normal player after completing the storyline. While this was acceptable in a single player game, it is not here. Rematch trainers' parties will now automatically scale to a level more appropriate to your character's progression, i.e. rematching a trainer with 8 badges will have you endure a harder match than that of a player with 1 badge. Money gain does not scale up from normal rematch rates, but EXP gain does, helping alleviate EXP grind woes of endgame players looking to build new parties. Dynamic Weather and Environmental Effects While this is not an especially large feature, dynamic weather is one of the many things that help a game's world feel more alive. It will now rain occasionally in the overworld, with each Island having different weather. Certain caves will now have thick fog effects. Certain environmental animations have been added as well, such as sand and beach effects. Direct Item Trading Direct item trading has been one of the primary limitations of the game's item-based economy, requiring you to attach an item to a party member before trading. This update alleviates this issue, with stacks of items being able to be traded directly. Artificial Intelligence Artificial intelligence has been a huge hurdle in creating difficulty in PvE content. The sheer complexity of the game makes creating meaningful AI a very difficult task, making this one of the main reasons why the current update cycle has been extended so far. With this, we will be introducing AI which: Uses attacking moves effectively Uses buffing moves effectively Swaps at appropriate times Choosing which party member to send out at appropriate times Utility moves are unlikely to be included with this update, but will be addressed in the future. This update provides us the ability to continue to create and tweak formulae which decide how NPCs react to player actions in real time. Z-Axis Support The Z-Axis is not a very utilized function in FireRed, primarily because it is a remake of an even older game. Proper Z-Axis support only fixes visual issues in Kanto (e.g. NPC rendering in the Fanclub, and certain tiles in caves) but is one of the larger server/client pre-requisites of our future Emerald preparation. Client Improvements Performance Improvements Memory management has been one of our worst issues, with various memory leaks in the rendering code causing symptoms like client crashing, visual texture bugs, and the GUI disappearing. Much of our time within the past few months has been spent working towards lowering the client's memory footprint and optimizing our existing systems. We've gone through, gutted most of our rendering code, and optimized it to the point where: The worst memory leaks have been resolved, where memory in use will no longer increase significantly over a player's session. This allows players to more reliably manage their memory usage via PokeMMO.l4j.ini, having the highest performance impact on very low-end systems with <768MB of RAM. Internal memory management has been heavily optimized, where internal garbage collection functions no longer run very often (causing lag spikes on extremely low-end systems). Memory management improvements also mean the removal of legacy code. This includes legacy GBA character colors from 2012, which will now all show as a standard sprite until custom Trainer Shots are created. While much of the optimizations are focused on memory management, small framerate-impacting optimizations have been done as well. Border rendering code has been improved to where borders will have very little to no impact on client performance. This primarily affected clients with unlocked zoom levels (a debug function), but had a performance impact for regular players where large amounts of border tiles were shown. Move Animation-related crashes have also plagued many of our players, but only largely began to be reported when commonly used moves' animations were implemented. This set of issues was commonly known as the "Swords Dance bug" but applied to every move animation. We have fixed many issues with move animations which would cause crashes on low-end systems during animation rendering. Many other crashes have been resolved as well, such as a very rare crash which could cause a player moving through a connection when performing certain actions to crash their clients. Most of the above issues do not affect a lot of players, but smaller memory footprints allow us to both support older desktop/laptop systems and reduce system impact for our future Android release. Extended Controller Support 3rd-party controller support has been one of the main features we have wanted to work on for the past few years. Our last update included basic controller support through the game client, but various GUI design flaws prevented us from a full implementation. With this update, we will be introducing controller support for all in-game GUIs except for the Chat and Settings functions as well as a wider array of controllers being detected. Community Suggestions and Other General Improvements Several small community suggestions have been implemented since our last patch including: Better shiny indicators for the "drag to chat" function. https://forums.pokemmo.eu/index.php?/topic/33216-make-shiny-pokemon-obvious-drag-and-drop/ Improving the interface for breeding. https://forums.pokemmo.eu/index.php?/topic/35943-show-more-information-when-retrieving-pokemon-from-the-daycare/ Displaying your own name for screenshot purposes. https://forums.pokemmo.eu/index.php?/topic/35999-option-to-display-character-name-and-team-tag-above-own-character/ Some other small improvements that don't quite fit anywhere else include: The Hidden Power diviner interface has been improved. After paying this NPC, your party member's Summary window will now display its Hidden Power typing to yourself and other players. Summary windows will no longer require you to move them to see, at a glance, how many Summary windows you have open at a time. Battle sprites will now render behind Substitute sprites, to more clearly indicate what you are facing in the case of things like Baton Pass. Implementation of Borderless Window Mode, allowing players to perform other tasks more easily while playing PokeMMO in a fullscreen setup. Various small textures have been improved to more suitably fit PokeMMO. Trainer Tower and Battle Points Trainer Tower The Trainer Tower was one of the least utilized features in FireRed's international version. Instead of implementing the cut-down FR USA version of the Trainer Tower, we have taken the effort to manually compile all information from the original FireRed JP release. This provides us with a robust PvE experience where players confront 9 levels of various battles, with each player receiving their own dynamically built instance. Battle Points Battle Points are a new currency obtained through the Trainer Tower. This currency allows you to purchase high-end consumables and can be used to purchase certain Event Moves for your party. In the future, these will be acquirable through PvP Matchmaking. We did not feel that Matchmaking was currently in a state that would allow us to tie rewards to its functionality. PvP Improvements PvP Balancing Many further generation move or battle mechanics changes have been backported to PokeMMO for balancing purposes. These include: Critical Hit rebalancing, including Critical Hit damage multiplications, chance scalings, stage increases for high crit-ratio skills, base powers for high crit-ratio skills. Sitrus Berries have been changed to be more appropriate for Little Cup-type tournaments (changing their HP to percentage scaling instead of flat HP increases.) Many Accuracy/Base Power/PP-related changes have been backported to apply to commonly used skills. End of Turn effects have been standardized to an intentional order. Additionally, various move-related bugs that were ported from FireRed have been removed (e.g. Overheat causing Contact). A full list of balancing changes is not present here, but will be available during the patch notes. Tournament Mode Improvements Several improvements related to Tournament Mode are slated for this update, including: Inclusion of Tiering in duels. This allows players to choose which ruleset they would like to play in a Tournament Mode duel. Match durations will now have an option to be capped at 45 minutes. This is decided on duel start. Public Test Server and Future Development Plans Public Test Server The Public Test Server has been mentioned on the forums over the past few weeks as a way to preview upcoming content and have players find the worst issues in it. This server will run the latest concepts created by us, and will be considered unstable. The Public Test Server is not a replacement for the Live Server. It will have the following restrictions set in place to minimize impact on the Live Server during testing periods: The PTS will only be available during certain times, announced prior to bringing it online. This will be focused primarily on weekends in order to ensure the highest number of testers possible. This server will have a limited amount of player slots allocated to free accounts. Accounts with active Donator Status will be able to bypass queue restrictions. The PTS will provide certain debug tools ("cheat codes") required for the test at hand. These will vary depending on what is being tested. Character progress on the PTS will be removed regularly. This server will begin seeing usage a few weeks after we deploy our next update. Further details on how to access the public test server and the content changes between Live and PTS will be released shortly before it starts being used. Future Development Plans We have several sub-projects in the works which are intending to see release by the end of the year. Some of them are: Character customization will see a major overhaul, including implementation of Trainer Shot sprites (shown in the Trainer Card). The PokeMMO Client GUI is being analyzed for both functionality and design improvements. It currently suffers from an issue known as "programmer's graphics". Our second region is planed to be feature-complete by the end of 2014, with Emerald used as a base. Some further details about integration with FireRed may be seen at https://forums.pokemmo.eu/index.php?/topic/42931-the-new-region-thread/?p=830926 Our first Android client implementation is planning to see its first public release in late 2014. This update is slated to be deployed shortly after Artificial Intelligence's first rendition has been completed. This is projected to be towards the middle of July. Thank you for your patience.
