We have finally reached a point when, in the very rare situation where Caio is right and Sweet is wrong, some hiveminded people brainlessly side with Sweet, dismissing Caio, not because it is the logical thing to do, not because the argument tells them to do so, but simply because in their minds the argument is less important than whoever claims it. (Tip: It isn't)

Weavile IS a Serperior check. I don't care what gimmicks you want to extrapolate, or whatever you want to say or imply or claim. There is proper terminology in the Pokemon world and instead of actually fighting for or against the actual arguments, we loop between semantics where some have no idea what they are talking about.

Thank you VadimEmpoleon for going through it properly.

Regarding Dugtrio, and, most specifically, Gb's post on it. It is true some of Dugtrio's targets can dodge. Some can pivot, others have enough bulk. Yada yada. But you missed the fundamental point. Dugtrio is not supposed to hard switch against them. It is supposed to gain free momenum beforehand so it can then trap its target. There is only one way (Barring the very irrelevant Shed shell), to prevent this, which is to never play the Pokemon before Dugtrio is taken down. Congratulations! Dugtrio has successfully pressured their threats without even being on the field. This is unhealthy.

Or, is it? Magnezone and Tyranitar can, in a way, accomplish the same. So what is the difference between these two and Dugtrio? The amount of targets they possess. The first two have very limited choices, while Dugtrio is able to delete a very significant part of the format. This is the main reason why the Pokemon was chronically banned in most formats. It is very easy and worthy trading a death so Dugtrio can then safely delete the threat you want to get rid of.

But what is the unhealthy part? Is it Dugtrio? Is it Arena Trap? The issue with this question is you cannot completely separate the Pokemon from their ability (Or whatever else they possess). Afterall, Diglett and Trapinch are not an issue. Does this mean Arena Trap is inherently unhealthy? Both yes and no.

Since this is probably hard to grasp at first glance, let me find something else: Wonder Guard. Is it broken, or unhealthy? Not necessarily. Afterall, Shedinja is harmless with it. Let's see another harmless Pokemon in OU: Jolteon (Yes, irrelevant enough so it is not even OU). Jolteon with Wonder Guard would be both broken and unhealthy. This is interesting because Jolteon by itself isn't an issue, and neither is Shedinja with the ability. It is the combination of the two that would make it a problem.

Maybe you can argue Arena Trap isn't unhealthy. You can definitely argue Dugtio isn't broken. But you can't simply state that because A and B are not an issue and share an ability with C, then C isn't an issue either.

To answer the question. What is the unhealthy part? Not one or the other separately, but simply the combination of the two.

(Yes, I understand Wonder Guard Jolteon doesn't exist. The argument is still the same)

Due to the newly implemented movepool changes the Tier Council has decided to test Hydreigon with Draco Meteor in the OU Tier for the next month. This thread was made so people can voice their opinions on whether this combination should be allowed in the tier once the test period is finished. Should this combination be considered too overwhelming, the move may be removed from said Pokemon’s move pool in the future, so invest in said Pokemon with caution.

    This is an excellent question
The official story was that they didn't want to add stuff that could potentially make a pokemon uber because that'd remove a lot of player effort hence why, when gen 5 was being developed, the devs consulted the tc and got advice on what to remove, including Hydrei's draco, SB Blaziken, ST Gothitelle.
Obviously this changed and they no longer follow the TC's guidance and now follow Gamefreak's changes nilly willy without any second guesses, removing half of the defensive meta game without caring about player effort. So when are we getting Speed Boost Blaziken with 1.3 boosts each turn?

I have a serious question: why do the higher-ups never take credit for these decisions? Why is it always put onto TC to announce these changes, which they didn't ask for? Why can't the devs come out and own the fact that THEY are doing this? Gallade is FINE. There is absolutely no reason to change it, what is the specific reason to change to 1.4x damage.. Which as gb said "There is no dmg mechanic in the history of pokemon battling that gives a 1.4 boost"

TC didn't want healing moves to be nerfed; in fact, we were in unanimous agreement that it would be bad for the health of PVP to add them. What happened? It got added anyway. I see parallels here: the current TC clearly doesn't want this change, yet they have to present it like a politician playing both sides 'The man has chosen' 'The choice came from above us' while making a thread endorsing it as if it is the best decision possible.

This system is completely backwards. There is no explanation for any of this happening; there is no sound logic or reasoning for any decisions made nowadays. TC is absolutely in free fall.

@Devs, listen to the TC. It's what they are there for. If you are just going to ignore them, then remove the TC and act like actual grown-ups. Present these choices because it's what YOU want for your game, and take the backlash, as there is not an ounce of competitive integrity in this decision. Instead of forcing others to take the criticism for you as if this is a decision made with the health of competitive MMO tiers in mind, how about you own the fact this is a decision purely based on your vision for the game.

It is really sad because I had hopes for the meta at one point, and now I have absolutely zero interest in how poorly it's all being handled. I have ideas for solutions, but I won't waste any time presenting them to deaf ears.

Making custom changes to the game to balance an ability that shouldn't have been introduced in the first place is simply unacceptable.
What's more stupid is the logic behind this, so if the pokemon drops to UU it should be buffed to remain at OU? what the fuck.

I copied this from Smogon lololol
This thread's purpose is to provide players with an easy to understand compendium of what each role in the game is and what Pokemon can fulfill that role in order to facilitate teambuilding. Suggestions welcome as this was quite a droning labor and I definitely missed or misplaced some stuff.

He's a wallbreaker, just try to kill it rather than wall it, he's weak to every priority except ice shard, weak to common types, susceptible to burns. Don't think of this meta like the old mmo "let's have 4 walls that cover everything" meta, think more offensively.
