    Hello,

Racial discrimination is prohibited by our code of conduct: https://pokemmo.com/en/code_of_conduct/

The forums are not the place to discuss such topics but you can always report any instance of that happening by making a player report ticket on our support platform here:

Damian got a reaction from XanarchyNL in The problem plaguing our minds; A clear lack of communication between developers and players.
There's two main classes of changes to the game: features and bug fixes.

If the devs communicated what features they were working on, players would be excited and want them released, so they'd be pestered about timelines. Devs could give estimates but then players would be annoyed when those estimates get pushed out (software dev always takes longer than you think it will). So communicating about features usually leads to frustration from players. The devs got a lot of messages back when they used to post blogs about what was being worked on.

The other class of change, bug fixes, would actively tip off players about ways to break or exploit the game, so it's obviously not a good choice to communicate them widely.

So it's not clear to me what you'd want them to do. Communicate about things that change often and thus disappoint the players and attract angry messages? This is the main reason why they're fairly quiet. It also enables them to focus on the real work, ie development, and not the make-work, ie communications and admin.

Damian got a reaction from moonlightbliss in Shiny hunting a Vulpix/Ninetales (I need tips)
Hey Swervo, I'm well-placed to give you some advice; see below

There are two main options for Vulpix hordes; as mentioned, Abundant Shrine, and Mt Pyre in Hoenn. There are advantages and disadvantages to both:

    Abundant Shrine:
Abundant Shrine is easier to get to, being a fly-able location in Unova. However, the Vulpix there know Inferno, which guarantees a burn on your catching pokemon (which is often a Breloom and hence weak to fire), and there's also the possibility that if they're <50 they know Fire Spin, which will prevent you from switching. Finally, Vulpix isn't the only horde in the dark grass in Abundant Shrine; you can also find hordes of Standtler. This means that there is a chance that when you encounter your shiny, it will be a Standtler and not a Vulpix. Of course, the chance that your shiny is a Standtler and not a Vulpix is the same as the chance that any horde is a Standtler horde and not a Vulpix horde, but I wasn't keen to spend 3k leppas on a shiny Standtler. As a result, I picked the alternative location.

    Mt Pyre:
The main advantage of farming at Mt Pyre is that Vulpix hordes are a 100% encounter there (see caveat). This means you can safely farm hordes and be assured that you'll encounter a shiny Vulpix. There are however two key disadvantages:
    1. Mt Pyre is a bit of a trek to get to from the Pokemon Centre, so you can't fly there easily like you can with Abundant Shrine.
    2. Vulpix hordes only appear there at night; during the day, the horde is Medicham
Point 2. above means that there's only a ~2 real-time hour window every 8 real-time hours where you can farm Vulpix hordes at Pyre. If this time doesn't line up with your schedule, it might not be possible for you to farm Vulpix at Pyre.

Considering all the above, I chose to go with Mt Pyre. I wanted the guaranteed Vulpix and I was willing to only farm when it was night-time; when it was day, I did my gym runs, or just logged out and logged back in at Pyre when it was time for Vulpix to spawn.

Hope this helps and good luck with your hunt!

Hi, it's less that it was removed and more that it was never added. Sinnoh was released with features likc pickup, underground, battle frontier, etc. not implemented so that players could play in the region, which was the main demand. They probably just haven't gotten around to adding Pickup to Sinnoh yet due to other priorities.

    Hope this clarifies.

Damian got a reaction from Speshial in Snorlax and belly drum question
Hi, you're correct that Belly Drum has no effect on Snore but in the past it would have done.

In Generation 4, the Physical/Special split was introduced to the mainline games. This made most ranged attacks Special attacks (whose damage is affected by the SpAtk stat), and most melee attacks into Physical attacks (whose damage is determined by Attack).
Prior to this change, whether a move was Physical or Special was determined by its type. In Gen 3 and earlier, all Normal type moves (such as Snore) were physical and would thus be affected by buffs to Attack like from Belly Drum. This also meant moves like Fire Punch counted as Special attacks.
However, after the change, whether a move is affected by Atk or SpAtk was determined by whether it's a melee or ranged attack. Since Snore is a ranged attack, it became Special in gen 4, and its damage is now calculated based on the user's SpAtk.

Since PokeMMO uses the most recent mechanics it can, it incorporates this change, and thus in PokeMMO, Snore will be unaffected by the buff from Belly Drum. Other physical Normal-type attacks such as Body Slam will still be buffed by Belly Drum's Atk boost.

I hope this clarifies the situation for you 🙂

Damian got a reaction from Green94 in Roaming Legendaries FAQ
    Q. There are legendaries in the game now?????
    A. Yes, Shaymin has been in the game since the Chinese New Year event in February :^)
Serious answer: Yes, the legendary beasts have been released for permanent capture as part of the Johto region launch. The legendary birds are available as of the Xmas 2023 event.

    Q. Which roaming legendaries are obtainable?
    A. The roaming legendaries rotate every IRL month. Suicune was available in August 2023, Raikou is available in September of 2023, and Entei will be available in October of 2023. Then the rotation will begin again, so Suicune will be available in November 2023, Raikou in December 2023, Entei in January 2024, etc. The same is true for Articuno in Dec 2023, Zapdos in Jan 2024, and Moltres in Feb 2024 etc.

    Q. How do I encounter a roaming legendary?
    A. For legendary beasts, defeat the Ho-Oh boss fight during the Johto storyline; after this, the current month's beast will become obtainable in all exterior grass locations in Johto except the Safari Zone (Suicune can also be found while surfing). The chance to encounter it is very low (players report it as less than 0.1%).
For legendary birds, obtain 8 badges in Kanto, then the bird of the month can be found in the same way in any exterior location in Kanto including the Sevii Isles.
The chance to encounter a roaming legendary is not affected by Lures (although Lures will increase the overall rate of wild encounters), nor can it be Repel-tricked, nor do Intimidate/Pressure improve the chance to find it by suppressing other encounters of a lower level. It replaces an otherwise normal encounter.
There are no "legendary locks", it's just a very low encounter rate. The roaming legend encounter will not replace a summoned Sweet Scent horde, but it can replace a horde or multi-encounter found while running, either with or without a Lure active.

    Q. What happens if I fail to capture the roaming legendary or kill or flee from it by accident?
    A. You can re-encounter it as normal, except that the chance to encounter it will significantly increase if you fail to catch it.

    Q. Can the roaming legendary be shiny? Can I shiny hunt them?
    A. Yes, like alphas, the shininess is rolled on the first encounter and fixed afterwards for subsequent encounters. This means that you can't repeat encounters in the same month to try to get a shiny one, ie shiny hunting them in the traditional sense is not possible.

    Q. How many roaming legendaries can I catch?
    A. One per character, per region, per monthly rotation. If you caught Suicune in August, you can catch another one in November. If you caught Zapdos in Kanto in Jan 2024, you can still catch Entei in Johto if you haven't caught one in Jan 2024 already.

    Q. Do I need to capture Suicune to catch Raikou? Do I only get one legendary?
    A. No, they're independent from one another. You can catch all 3, and you can catch duplicates of the same one as long as you wait for the next monthly cycle. Once you catch one for the month, you won't encounter a second one. You cannot catch the previous month's beast until the next rotation if you missed it.
EDIT: This was previously bugged such that if you had caught Suicune you would unable to encounter Raikou. This has since been fixed.

    Q. Can I change their IVs/natures?
    A. Yes; the legendary beasts' IVs can be increased/decreased using Rainbow Quills. The birds can have their IVs increased/decreased via Elemental Orbs. The natures can be changed using Nature Herbs.

    Q. How do I obtain Rainbow Quills/Nature Herbs/Elemental Orbs?
    A. You get a fixed number (20) of Quills when you catch a beast. You can gain additional ones by using the Pickup ability or through player pickup in Johto only (not other regions). Nature Herbs drop randomly when harvesting Gracidea plants. Elemental Orbs drop randomly when defeating a wild pokemon with a move matching the elemental type of the bird in battle (eg faint wild mons with Zapdos using an Electric-type move for a chance at Elemental Orbs).

    Q. Are they dogs or cats or some other animal?
    A. I have called them dogs since I was single-digit years old, so they're dogs to me.

The shiny warning is a QOL feature, not essential. The devs are probably lumping the fix into an upcoming balance fix for the event, which is what normally happens during events. If you're a normal player who pays attention while playing this is unlikely to affect you. I'm sure if you were running a bot that relied on the check, this would be very annoying, though 🙂
