Looking at how an Arena Trap nerf is a hot topic right now I wanted to share my opinion on this. I think its unlikely that a nerf happens in the case of a ban after making some considerations: Moody is completely banned. Shadow Tag was nerfed but it was Wynaut and Wobbuffet's only ability at that moment and their HA is still unavailable so even Shadow Tag could be changed back to its original state when it gets released. As said in the Official Tier Policies when a Pokémon gets banned to Ubers it will eventually be reintroduced with a nerf but this only applies to Pokémon, not abilities or moves. An interesting example of something that is not a Pokémon that was banned before but got nerfed is Baton Pass but this move was nerfed because of PvE and you can't ban it from PvE which is not AT's case. A possible nerf, specially when considering that we have no precedents to consider it would get a nerf, should not discourage from doing a ban.

Pretty much what gb sayed. Nothing stays on Ubers so we had to nerf something, community is unsure what exactly. Part wants AT as a whole banned while others want just Dugtrio banned. But imo the best is just ban Dugtrio. If was broken Digglet or Trapinch as people claimed to be, on lower tiers they would see some usage on UU or NU when Dugtrio is not present. Like i sayed before, there is a degree of uncompetitive-ness that things need to reach for it be banworthy. On Gen 3(ADV OU) Dugtrio has AT and was not banned even with every other tier from Gen 3 and all other gens banning it. On LC, part of metagamings ban AT, others not. Magnet Pull and pursuit trapping also falls on Uncompetitive-ness because they prevent you sometimes from switching, but still none of them was ever banned(Magnet pull could even be considered because most decent teams had steel types, but still never was.) Tldr: Being Uncompetitive usually means being banworthy, but like being uber and unhealthy, they are not mutually exclusive terms.
