Then someone certainly makes a fortune with this game looking at all the voucher in the GTL. Every single vanity has been paid with real money at some point aswell.
Thats surely a living. Way beyond the average living/income of the usual guy.
Looking at some mmo's on steam or whatever, they have less player and a smaller economy with them still working full time on it.

Beeing a "fan project" is a vague excuse at this point imo.

The fact they didn't reveal that you are shiny locked if you spam encounters on a place without completing the league when we were always told that the only shinylock that existed was the one from NPC trades and starter pokemons from the professor is scary, not gonna lie.

Starting May 2024, I'd like to be part of hosting an unofficial version of the Team Tournament, specially targeted to Asian teams who can't access the usual official Team Tournaments due to time issues. This doesn't mean the tournament will be restricted: Everyone can join, this is just an alternative for Asian teams to be able to apply for playing a similar format than the held in the official Team Tournament.
With Queest's help, we'll try to expand this idea to the Asian-CN community in order to make the event more interesting and challenging.

    Format
    - Up to 32 Teams per month
    - Up to 15 participant players per team

    Registration Thread
A registration thread will be opened on the same Thursday of the week the event will take place, at 11 AM GMT, in order for teams to register. Up to 32 teams will be registered.
We don't allow 2 alt teams at the same time. In case you want to participate with an academy team, you can't participate with the main one.

    Ruling.
    - About the standings
       - 10 points for the champion
       - 5 points for the 2nd place
       - 3 points for the semi-finalists
       - 1 point for the quarter-finalists (if teams registered = or > 16)

The main idea is to follow the similar format and tiers than the official Team Tournament, so the monthly tiering will be the exact same than the official TT, even though we may contemplate adding LC in the future if the event has a good success.

    Monthly Prizes:
    1st Place Team
3k RP to split as the Captain wishes.

    2nd Place Team
1.5k RP to split as the Captain wishes.

    Yearly Prizes:
This is a work in progress, but I plan to hold a tournament similar to the Cup of the year between the 8 highest-standing teams, awarding the first one with a competitive shiny depending on what we have around.

    Location and Time

    Hi there,

     @ScizoMonkey

I think that PokéMMO has undergone significant changes over the years and its worth write some suggestions below. I have implemented as well a few personal desires I have that could improve its overall appeal to the game:

ECONOMIC BOOST - I propose sending 500,000 Pokeyen via email to all active players. This injection of currency could invigorate our in-game economy and create more opportunities for trading and transactions. Stackable Riches Charms with amulet coin: Enabling the Riches Charm to stack with the Amulet Coin would optimize the benefits of these items, enhancing our overall grind and resource gathering. Tweaking odds to find Alpha Encounters: Making alphas more rare and adjusting their catch mechanics (make easier), as well such as removing exp candy rewards and nerf the 2 maximized IVs, whice are not necessary) would add excitement  changes to the game. Legendary Encounter Adjustments: Apart from refraining from drop IV modifiers (such rainbow quil) upon catching legendaries, I hope you can make them truly rare, more rarer tham shinies. Random Tier Adjustments: The current implementation of Random Tier doesn't feel quite right, as it introduces Pokémon that players don't necessarily own. I propose a revision where the system uses random Pokémon from your PC instead. To participate, players would need to have a substantial number of Pokémon stored in their PC. The system could temporarily adjust the moves of these owned Pokémon, maintaining fairness and ensuring that participants use their own Pokémon in battles. Shiny Charm Availability On Event Drops: Adding the Shiny Charm to loot drops from Red Envelopes, Lucky Red Envelopes, Pumpkin Bags, and Santa Presents would make these events even more rewarding. Additionally, modifying shiny charms from the gift shop to provide a 20% boost to shiny encounter rates could excite collectors and shiny hunters. Provide a Preview of Upcoming Events: It would be beneficial if we could get a preview of upcoming events to anticipate the challenges ahead. Last year's Christmas event was quite different from what we expected, which caught many of us by surprise. Instead, it would be great if you could give us a heads-up beforehand about any alterations or different events you have prepared.
    Best regards,
    MightyMichele

People who stay solely stay because of the team & community aspect tbh, like you said, everything else is superior in other games/platforms.

They will spend part of their time ensuring the game's anti-cheating system. One of the reasons I play this game is that you don't have to pay to get enough game items, but one problem with games like this is anti-cheat, people can get game coins through automated scripts, and I have witnessed countless similar cases of games are beaten by scripts.

I agree with you about the lack of communication. recover pp nerf is completely a product that does not consider balance and competitiveness.

Captcha problems can be solved easily by implementing puzzles like captcha, where you have to drag certain piece manually.

What we need from the game is transparency of mechanics implemented.

The majority of players know that a new account could be shiny locked because of one guy doing streams (Patrouski) and only because of him do we know it exists.
What else is implemented that we don't know about?

Why I can do payday 15hr/day 7d/week without a captcha?
The behavior-detecting system clearly doesn't work.

This is the reason I valuable open source and open source software, because I can get the source code, read it myself and see what I'm using.

From time to time I'm adding a code to a project called Veloren. It's open source Minecraft + MMO + Zelda game driven by a community of contributors. Everything is open-sourced even server login, and it still can be safe ie. implementing proper Cryptographic algorithms.

That's my 2 cents to the whole story

    The key issues are:
    - Un transparency
    - Lack of trust

This will probably be lost in the infinite amount of posts following the Minish debacle but, in essence this post is to implore the Devs to do literally ANYTHING with the game. There are 4 extra generations of content, endless cosmetic possibilities, countless opportunities to have events that have yet to be added or done. Honestly even seeing the Devs interact with the community in any way besides consistently dropping disappointing event after disappointing event would be preferred, the lack of communication from the developers is disheartening and leads to a stale and boring game. I'm not claiming to know the ins and outs of the financial aspects of the back end of the game, but speaking from personal experience having spent IRL money in the gift shop ($300-$500 monthly) and knowing that there are players who spend more than me I'm more than sure that the small dev team this game has makes more than enough money to put more time and focus into the game. It's embarrassing to see how little of an end product we the players get on a yearly basis, and then for those same Devs to turn around and ban someone for speaking out against their poor game design choices is ludicrous. It is a shame to see something that I've loved and supported since 2015-2016ish become such a shell when it could be so full of life if only the developers would do literally anything with this game.

THREE TO FOUR UPDATES A YEAR IS NOT OKAY

THREE TO FIVE EVENTS A YEAR IS NOT OKAY

SUPPORT YOUR PLAYERS LIKE THEY'VE SUPPORTED YOU

In short, I'll no longer be donating to this game and implore others to stop as well. The Devs DO NOT deserve your money for the product they're delivering and they absolutely DO NOT deserve to get paid to treat players the way they do. Vote with your dollars, when their pockets start hurting they'll give the players the product they deserve.

In no way am I stating that the game is not fun, I have 1700 hours logged for a reason. I enjoy this game immensely, but there is so much unrealized potential that the devs are leaving on the table. Please do better, do more, do literally anything besides banning players for speaking out against your mediocrity. I know that this game can be the ideal Pokémon experience but right now it is sorely lacking.

Agreed, I think that's something that should be communicated and explain the reasoning (avoid botting I assume), even though it might not affect 99% of the player base.
