astarmentor reacted to ZephyrBreezy in [Doubles] PokéMMO World Championships!
Welcome to the (Unofficial) PokéMMO World Championships!

What is the PokéMMO World Championships?
The PokéMMO World Championships is a series of tournaments based off of the real world's Pokémon World Championship Series, where there is a series of pvp events all over the world for players to compete for the title of "World Champion"!

The PokéMMO World Championships will be an annual competition held by ZephyrBreezy to determine the "World Champion".  This series will be held in the form of "Regional Championships", one in each region. The locations and dates for each championship are as follows:
    - Kanto Regional Championships - Saffron City, Silph Co. Building (Ground Floor) - May 4th 3PM BST
    - Johto Regional Championships - Goldenrod City, Train Station - May 11th 3PM BST
    - Hoenn Regional Championships - Lilycove City, Museum - May 18th 3PM BST
    - Sinnoh Regional Championshps - Hearthome City, Contest Hall - May 25th 3PM BST
    - Unova Regional Championships - Nimbasa City, Big Stadium - June 1st 3PM BST
    - World Championships - Anville Town, Outdoors - June 15th 3PM BST

    The Format
Battles will be in the VGC format. This means players will be allowed to have 6 Pokémon on their team, however for each battle, they may use only 4.
The Preliminary rounds will be Best of 3 Swiss Rounds, with the total number of rounds being determined by how many players are in attendance. This means that all players will play a minimum of 4 rounds before potentially being knocked out of the competition.
After the Swiss rounds conclude, there will be a Top 16 playoff (assuming there are a minimum of 32 players in attendance). These will once again be Bo3 Swiss rounds, with 3 rounds of Swiss. If the minimum player count is not met for a top 16 round, the tournament will jump straight to Top Cut (Top 8).
Top Cut will be Bo3 Single Elimination, and will be the final section of the tournament. This means that if a player loses a set, that player is then knocked out of the tournament. The winner will be determined by the final match of Top Cut.

There will be Open Team Sheets. Players will be required to submit a PokéPaste of their team up to 15 minutes before the event starts, which will be whispered to their opponent before each battle. Players may reference this team sheet at any point during the match. Players may use the Pokémon Showdown Teambuilder to build their teams.

The following information must be included in the teamsheet:
    - Pokémon (+ form, if relevant)
    - Hidden Power Type (if relevant, otherwise the default Hidden Power Type is fine)
    - Ability
    - Moveset
    - Item

The following information is Not required to be included on the teamsheet:
    - Nature
    - EVs
    - IVs

(Note that if you have a specific Hidden Power Type, You should click the "Export to Poképaste (Open Team Sheet)" option when exporting your team to Poképaste)

You must ensure that the teamsheet submitted is correct, as any Pokémon with incorrect information may not be used for the duration of the tournament. If 3 or more Pokémon have incorrect information submitted on the teamsheet, the player will be disqualified from the tournament.

Players may use different teams in different tournaments, however any changes to a team may not be made for the duration of the tournament.

    Example teamsheet: https://pokepast.es/c9bf1f9564978883

    Banlist and Clauses
The following Pokémon are banned from this World Championship Series:
    - Articuno
    - Zapdos
    - Moltres
    - Mewtwo
    - Entei
    - Raikou
    - Suicune
    - Lugia
    - Rayquaza
    - Arceus
    - Shaymin
    - Keldeo
If PokéMMO adds any more Legendary or Mythical Pokémon to the game during this World Championship Series, those Pokémon will be banned too.

The following Clauses are also in effect for the series:
    - Unique Species Clause - Players may not use more than one Pokémon of the same species (for example, you may not have 2 Chanseys on the same team, however having both Chansey and Blissey is permitted).
    - Item Clause - No two Pokémon may hold the same item (for example, if you had a Scizor and a Garchomp, they can't both hold a Life Orb).
Clauses Not in effect (that may be popular):
    - Sleep Clause
    - Evasion Clause
    - OHKO Clause

    When Setting up Battles
    - Make sure to change Battle type to "Doubles"
    - Check the "Advanced Options" Box
    - Ensure "Team Preview" and "Turn TImers" boxes are both checked, and that "Private Battle" is left unchecked.
    - Click the button next to "Active Clauses" and ensure "Unique Species" and "Unique Item" are both checked, while leaving everything else is unchecked.
    - Double check that everything is correct, and press "Send Request".

    The Rewards
For Regional Championships - Top cut players will be awarded Worlds Points (WP) based on how well they did in top cut. This will be based on a combination of their Match Record (How many matches they won/lost throughout the tournament) and their resistance (how well their opponents did in the tournament). These are as follows:
    - 8th Place - 50 WP
    - 7th Place - 75 WP
    - 6th Place - 100 WP
    - 5th Place - 125 WP
    - 4th Place - 150 WP
    - 3rd Place - 200 WP
    - 2nd Place - 250 WP
    - 1st Place - Worlds Invite

Players must collect 300 WP to earn themselves a place in Worlds. This is subject to change in future World Championship Series, however based on the current scale of the tournaments, this is what we're going with to give as many players spots in the World Championships as possible,

For the World Championships - The Top 3 players will receive Reward Points (RP) in the form of RP vouchers, which they can do what they please with. These will be awarded as follows:
    3rd Place - 500RP
    2nd Place - 1000RP
    1st Place - 2000RP

These prizes are subject to change in future World Series events, however at the current scale of the championships, this is what we are going with.

In order to allow players opportunities to gather championship points, Players may sign up for as many regional events as they wish. However, if a player qualifies for worlds, they may not compete in any further regional championships in order to allow other players a chance to qualify.

    The Signup
Signing up for the PokéMMO World Championship series is as simple as filling out This Form! I hope to see you at some of the events!

    @Zuladra
Question number 1 and 2 are already in the edited strings (update them), if they do not appear, check to install them correctly or if you use any other strings
I recommend remove them,it can interfere when the files are read. maybe that's why they don't show up
Question number 3, ok to change that you would have to do it with each dialog that gives you the choice between Yes/No or Dialogs that give you an option, it would take time and you would have to do it with each file, if you want later you can add me to discord and I'll explain better

Zula, great contribution. Would you mind explaining also how to use the god damn pearls, and well, as a side note, how to farm them?

    Thanks in advance.

Above would be a link on where to obtain the pearls. As far as "farming" goes, they are exchanged through shinies, so youd "farm them" by catching and trading shinies

With the introduction of Prismatic Pearls, Alphas can now have their Hidden Ability removed.

    Look for  when trading!
To breed HA Pokémon, you only need one parent with Hidden Ability.

    If Male
Use a regular female of the same evolution line (or a ditto).
    If Female
Use a regular male of the same egg group (or a ditto).

I have been offline for about 4 years, and I came back to play this game recently, when I try to catch pokemon using shedinja, I knew it has been nerfed.
I read the update log and feel unintelligibly.

"Wonder Guard" is the only reason that why this pokemon is usable, also its characteristic, nerfing it by this way is same as remove this pokemon.

Somebody say "this was a PvE-only change", but who will use it in pvp?
Samebody say "shedinja will make 90% of the game into a joke.", this statement is even untenable, for normal npc, you can even easily beat them all with only one lv.100 pokemon.
for others, no matter what, you have to organize your pokemon reasonably, instead of just relying on a specific pokemon.

I think change npc's pokemon team is better than change a special pokemon / ability / skill.

This change is exactly the same as the previous change to the baton pass.
Today, players found a good strategy, then you break it, and another day, players found a good strategy again, you break it again.
And, players can always find a good solution to deal with things. So just keep nerfing like this every time until the player doesn't play anymore?

This got me thinking about something else.
Reducing farmers' income, change amulet coin, change lucky egg, etc.
after doing this, and then handing out a bunch of stuff like "exp charm", "reched charm", etc. , incomprehensible.

"For protect the economy" is just a joking, Talking about protecting the economy in a world of unlimited money production is simply a fantasy.

astarmentor reacted to OrangeManiac in The tiering system needs to be updated to fit the current state of the game
While only a handful of Hidden Abilities and later gen abilities were released recently, it is already clear that the impact they caused to all of the tiers is significant and will be in the future. The lower tiers are currently in an absolute chaos and that is an understatement. The idea of entire tier reset has been throwing around here and there but that discussion can be stopped because today Kyu dropped an absolute bombshell of an update saying new Hidden Abilities will be gradually introduced to the game little by little. While we cannot know the exact frequency how often this will happen, I would still argue this changes everything. PokeMMO's tiering was designed around expecting stability and supporting stability. The usage movements done every 3 months were done so that Pokemon near the cut-off point wouldn't be constantly moved between two tiers every month while people in the lower tiers had to constantly redesign their teams unsure if a Pokemon is going up or down a tier each month. Only exceptions were done monthly if something had suddenly over 6,7% usage in a month to raise a tier or 1,7% usage in a month to lower a tier because this indicated a high likelyhood a Pokemon would be moved in the next 3-month-cycle. This system provided competitive play and tiering needed stability.

That stability is gone. Not only does it take months for people to discover the full potential of released Pokemon, every new addition shakes everything even more. Because stability no longer is a reasonable goal for lower tiers in this game, the only reasonable option is to abandon that 3-month system altogether. The tiering moves have to happen monthly for now. It makes no sense people have to play lower tiers knowing that the Pokemon they have to prepare in lower tiers is going to be staple in the higher tiers but due to the 3-month-rule it may take up to 3 months of suffering with a Pokemon that you know you only need to temporarily prepare against. Also it simply leads to very weird looking tiers. You may have some old outdated relics in higher tier while having Pokemon that gained incredible boost with updates in lower tiers and you would have to wait for months for things to stabilize because you cannot really make an argument for a ban with the current tiering policies (looking at you UU Alakazam and "NU" Espeon). These kinds of things take away the whole point of tiering and makes the tiering system look incredibly chaotic and pointless to any competitive player with reasonable experience and also takes away the whole purpose tiers were designed. While we're in this chaotic time (meaning new things coming in constantly), you have to update at least OU tierlist monthly. This would at least start to formulate some kind of a shape to UU tier, which then could potentially create a playable NU tier. Also the amount of data OU matchmaking gives every month is by numbers reasonable enough to make decisions based off on monthly usage.

Other issue that needs to be addressed are quickbans. While before in the stable era of tiering, quickbans should be used sparingly because you had to get that certain level of certainty and evaluation of whether a threat is broken not only on paper but also in practice but now we simply don't have that stability to make those assessments. Rather, there are so many potentially broken threats in the metagame that it is almost impossible to create and evaluate a potential suspect test when people are preparing for tons of potentially banworthy things at once. In other words, you cannot tell if a metagame went better during a suspect test if all that was done during that suspect test was focusing some other broken threat more. This kind of a suspect test could indicate a metagame went worse during a suspect test due to more centralized usage, while in reality people were just using more resources to focus on another broken threat, which by looking at the usage would indicate a worse metagame than before. What this all means is that suspect tests during a chaotic period of a metagame can be useless or even counter-productive to the true evaluation of whether a tier has improved due to a ban or not.

The solution to this is simply that Tier Council makes difficult decisions they think are right, even if they are made too quickly. If a Pokemon seems too strong for the community and for the Tier Council, it is better to let it go. This all can be revised when a certain level of stability has been reached. But currently we cannot get overly diplomatic about every single Pokemon - if it seems too strong it deserves to be gone. The point of Tier Council is to be competitive experts and to analyze if a Pokemon is too strong for the metagame and can it be reasonably handled, it is not to point out that every 3 months usage will do the work for us. Difficult decisions must be made but in the current state of the game it's better to make a couple of hasty decisions than doing nothing because otherwise the lower tiers will remain in a constant unplayable chaos state.

    Base on 4.36% movement points.

Moving DOWN to UU from OU:
    Torkoal

Moving UP to UU from NU:
    Absol
    Zoroark

Quickbanned to BL2 from NU due to gaining their Hidden abilities: (Been done in game for a week or so now)
Feraligatr - With Sheer Force, most of Feraligatr's viable moves have become significantly more powerful, in addition to negating recoil from Life Orb. Already an extremely scary sweeper without it, its Hidden Ability pushes Feraligatr over the edge. It will be monitored closely in UU as well.

Serperior - With Contrary in combination with Leaf Storm to combine a powerful move with a +2 special attack boost, a great speed stat, and good bulk, Serperior can very easily snowball. It has been determined that it's too much for NeverUsed to handle, and the Tier Council will keep an eye on it in UU too.

In addition for the following season all months will have a cutoff of 4.36% to move either way to help things move to the tier they should be in quicker.

Moving "UP" to NU from Untiered:
    Sceptile
    Ludicolo
    Poliwrath

Under this strange logic, Ferrothorn (which is one of the 6 most used), should also lack ability, since it is a free Rocky Helmet that allows you to use Shed Shell and cancel Magnet Pull from Magnezone, Leftovers or some other item... which doesn't make sense xD.
So I'd like you to give me a real reason why Garchomp Rought Skin is so broken to the point of deactivating his ha.
That set is used in a huge difference from the CC set, and it's not like CC Conkeldurr would become unviable either, you'd just have to use a Wishpasser or some other mon to stop Garchomp, and there are quite a few options really.

Sincerely, I would like to continue focusing on the topic of the thread, we are already rambling too much, a separate thread about garchomp rought skin can be opened.

I'm not sure as the specifics, but I think it would be fun to replay a PvP match. There was a similar function to replay your last battle in the cartridge games. Alternatively, I could see how it wouldn't be well-received as your team and strategy could be revealed or published by the other party and thus subsequently shared to competitors for inappropriate use in tourneys, TT, etc.

Please mods add an personal register function to replay the last pvp you've done in ranked. Here's a few reasons why to add this:
1 - Hackers: in case you get matched with a hacker you'll have more proofs to make a report
2 - Feedback: By this i mean you can check your own mistakes on pvp and learn what you have to work on
3 - Exciting pvp: In case you had a pvp that is worth to record in video for any reason :)

astarmentor reacted to Thekingofglory in [MOD] Shiny&Secret Shiny Alarm Sounds (Free For Custom)
Hello! My name is King (IGN: thekingofglory)

I created a Sound Effects mod that replaces the shiny Pokémon particle sound effect (in battle) with another sound effect (e.g., an alarm clock or any music of your choice). This does not replace or remove the sparkle animation; furthermore, it does not replace or remove non-shiny particle sound effects and animations (e.g., Kingfall, Pumpkid, Lantern, etc.). I strongly recommend it only for those who are shiny hunting, not intended for PvP.
This Sound Effects mod triggers whenever a shiny Pokémon particle sparkles on either side, you or your opponent; thus, it's important to toggle off the particle if you're leading with one (e.g., shiny Eevee, shiny Smeargle, shiny Breloom, etc.), so you don't get spammed or baited by your own shiny.

Instructions (primarily for players who are new to adding mods; do not skip steps 5 and 6):
    (1) Download the file(s) (links below) into your PokeMMO "mods" folder (PokeMMO > data > mods); (2) Launch the PokeMMO client and open your mod via "Mod Management" in the bottom-right corner; (3) Enable the downloaded mod (look for "Author: Thekingofglory"); click on "Save" and the client should restart;
    (4) Launch the PokeMMO client again; click on "Settings" and the "Sound" tab; (5) Set the "Music Volume" to 0%; and (6) Set the "Sounds Effects Volume" to any % greater than 0% (e.g., 20%, 50%, 100%); "System Effects Volume" doesn't affect this mod.   Mod links for PC: (1) "Megalovania" from Undertale (2015)   (LINK DOESNT WORK, GO TO DOWNLOAD THE LINK FOR BOTH) (2) Alarm Clock (generic) https://www.mediafire.com/file/49my5izp1ywhgyt/Alarm_Clock_Shunter.mod/file (3) "Endless Love" from The Myth (2005) ( @Deomi requested a personal song) https://www.mediafire.com/file/jfdq6gck0506970/Endless_Love_Shiny_Hunt.mod/file   Mod links for Mobile:  (1) "Megalovania" from Undertale (2015) https://www.mediafire.com/file/8s6lfpue0qmp863/Undertale_Shiny_Hunt_for_Mobile.mod/file (2) "Endless Love" from The Myth (2005) https://www.mediafire.com/file/khw02xl13qjrzvm/Endless_Love_Shiny_Hunt.mod/file

Some thoughts from me as well, mostly from Doubles perspective:

    - "Competitive" only exists XY onwards so I doubt we will get Competitive Milotic
    - Gyarados will also get a noticable buff in Doubles. I am still unsure if Intimidate or Moxie is the better ability (depends of your team I suppose) but if you go full on the set up, Moxie can be great. But beyond that, Raichu's Lightningrod might arguably be the biggest thing buffing Gyarados.
    - Regen might slightly buff bulky variants of Reuniclus, Slowking and Slowbro even in Doubles
    - Nidoking becomes threatening in Doubles as well. Sheer Force Nidoking has proven itself quite of a strong Pokemon with both Life Orb and Choice Scarf in VGC 2018 metagame and looking at MMO meta, it basically heavily pressurizes everything below base 80 speed.
    - I agree with above comment that Serperior would also become very powerful in Doubles
    - Adaptability Crawdaunt becomes viable especially in Singles but I'd say it has its niche in Doubles too. It jumped to Gen 6 UU when it got Adaptability which makes me think it could have potential to gain OU usage.
    - Sableye might have a niche at Doubles
    - I am also hopeful of Empoleon becoming a good pick in Doubles. It has a great defensive typing already, basically shutting down 4/6 out of Standard rain team and heavily countering things like Crobat, Salamence or Hydreigon. Accidental Defiant boost can make Empoleon quite of a threat on the field and Roost also gives it very annoying longevity, I mean Milotic isn't awful in Doubles and it would become just the better version of it.
    - Scrafty gets Intimidate which makes it in some cases a potential competitor for Hitmontop slot in Doubles
    - I really doubt they will ever release Speed Boost Blaziken due to being easily Uber, also Shadow Tag Gothitelle while nerfed by the 3 turn rule might be deemed a bit unnecessary
    - Oh my lord if we ever would get Moody Smeargle Doubles would become hilarious (no seriously please don't do it, I'm begging you)

Good idea, although I disagree on some points, I will share my point of view:
I doubt that Xatu will have a significant role in OU, I would say that at best he could be the ''Espeon of UU''
Serperior Contrary might have some impact on dubs, as there are allies with Follow Me.
You shouldn't forget or rule out P2 with analytic, which while it's currently better capable, might surprise you.
Crobat I think that if it will have an impact on OU with infiltrator, since it would be a perfect check for Breloom
I doubt that Sableye will have an impact on OU, since prankster prevents sinister pokemon from being used for status moves, and if Sableye is taken into account, we should not forget about Murkrow either (Which would be a gimmick at most, I don't know I don't think relevant, but should not be forgotten)
And correct me if I'm wrong, but PZ's hidden ability as far as I know is analytical.
