  1. A while back I opened a thread about obtaining renewable TMs. This time, I thought of alternatives to just buying them in shops... A rare item collector has arrived in Hoenn. He is an expert in competitive pokemon moves, and would kindly trade you TMs for items found in the wild. Below is a list of non renewable TMs (aka the reason people stil do alt runs): [spoiler]TM01 Focus Punch - Focus Band (wild Machoke) TM02 Dragon Claw - Dragon Scale (wild Horsea/Seadra) TM03 Water Pulse - Deepseascale (wild Chinchou/Lanturn) TM04 Bulk Up - Focus Band (wild Machoke) TM06 Toxic - Poison Barb (wild Roselia/Arbok) TM07 Hail - Nevermeltice (wild Dewgong) TM08 Calm Mind - Twistedspoon (wild Abra/Kadabra) TM09 Bullet Seed - Miracle Seed (if implemented on wild pokemon instead of GC) TM11 Sunny Day - Sun Stone (wild Solrock) TM12 Taunt - Spell Tag (wild Haunter/Shuppet/Duskull) TM19 Giga Drain - Miracle Seed (if implemented on wild pokemon instead of GC) TM22 Solarbeam - Sun Stone (wild Solrock) TM26 Earthquake - Soft Sand (wild Trapinch) TM29 Psychic - Twistedspoon (wild Abra/Kadabra) TM34 Shock Wave - Light Ball (wild Pikachu) TM36 Sludge Bomb - Poison Barb (wild Roselia/Arbok) TM37 Sandstorm - Hard Stone (wild Geodude/Graveller) TM40 Aerial Ace - Sharp Beak (wild Fearow/Skarmory) TM41 Torment - Spell Tag (wild Haunter/Shuppet/Duskull) TM42 Facade - Big Pearl (wild Shellder) TM43 Secret Power - Pearl (wild Shellder) TM45 Attract - Heart Scale (wild Luvdisc) TM44 Rest - Brightpowder (wild Venomoth) TM46 Thief - Nugget (wild Meowth) TM48 Skill Swap - King's Rock (wild Slowpoke) TM49 Snatch - Metal Powder (wild Ditto) TM50 Overheat - Charcoal (if implemented on wild pokemon instead of GC)[/spoiler] This could add more variety to hunting.

  3. Here's an idea that the devs may or may not have already thought of, but it seems really useful for the competitive scene: We need a standard way of finding battles that satisfies the following two conditions: 1. Lets players easily congregate to casually and/or competitively battle 2. Supports the possibility of future "ranked PVP" in game Why not create a "portal" in the upstairs of Pokemon Centers that sends players to a central "Battle Hub" where it's quick and easy to find a match with another player? With the addition of Hoenn, there is a split between the map, leaving some players congregating in Viridian and some in Mauville to find casual battles. If, for instance, the women upstairs in Pokemon Centers gave players the option of teleporting to a Battle Arena then this problem would be eliminated. Along with this could come features in the Arena that allow for Ranked PVP (something players have long requested) with possibility for Battle Point payouts that could be spent on event moves, competitive items, etc. Possible ideas include: 1. Automated Tournament support 2. Automated PSL support 3. Ranked PVP/Ladder support In any of these cases, it would be important to protect against player exploits that could be used to illegally gain heinous amounts of BP through match-fixing, purposeful match throwing (to accumulate baseline amounts of BP for participating) or other scams. The current ladder system could simply be placed inside the Battle Arena to faciliate both casual and ranked/competitive play. In particular, I would like feedback on ways that such a system could guard against exploits, since that is the largest barrier to something like this. Here are some preliminary suggestions to get the brainstorm going: 1. Daily BP limits: This protects against excessive PVP grinding and/or match throwing to gain tons of battle points. If players did find a quick and dirty way to abuse other rules, this would be a first line of defense that would help to limit unforeseen exploits. 2. Diminishing rewards for repeat match ups: If I play the same player more than twice, for instance, the payouts for both of us should approach zero to prevent scenarios where two players take advantage of the system by repeatedly playing and throwing their matches. Even though competitive players should (in theory) want to protect their standing on the ladder, alt characters could be used to grind points/match-fix, allowing players to hold their higher position on the ladder. 3. BP payouts that scale with ladder position: This also helps to eliminate alt-exploits. The developers could make a system where you cannot receive BP payouts for battling someone with a ELO score (or whatever ranking system we use) beneath a certain threshold. This would require players to first acheive a certain ranking in order to benefit and second maintain or improve that ranking in order to benefit from using the feature. Even if a player grinded an alt up into the top 100 (or whatever) of rankings and started throwing matches to friends, they'd soon be out of the rankings again and unable to exploit the payouts. This system also provides an intuitive advantage: that beating better players should reward you more than beating an average player. 4. Developer oversight: Developers could devote time and energy to spectating matches for possible abuse in the early stages of this feature in case something slips under the radar. 5. Server load options: Maybe it would be wise to limit this feature to times when server volume is high enough to support an actual environment. So when there are only 500 people in game (or whatever) it's not possible to gain BP payouts from ranked/competitive play. This option isn't that great, however, because in theory you'd want to be able to use the feature at any time, which would limit its actual usefulness to players. Final thoughts: We also need a way for casual players to find out about this feature or accidentally stumble upon it. It seems like there are a couple of ways this could go down: 1. Have the upstairs in PC's immediately link to the Battle Arena, so casual players would inevitably stumble upon it just by exploring the game. 2. Have NPC's that tell players about the feature after beating the Elite 4 in their region. It might also be wise to prevent players who haven't beaten the story line to use the feature to prevent players from switching to new alts all the time in order to either mask their true identity or gain a competitive advantage by starting anew and eliminating their previous poor ranking. 3. Make an in-game news section that shows up on the login page. This could have info about Ranked Play/Battle Arena, upcoming tournaments, special in-game events and anything else the devs felt like advertising (credit to CatioN). Feedback pls! This seems like something that would be very feasible and massively beneficial to the game's competitive community!

  5. Taunt is a move that limits the affected pokemon from using non-damaging moves for 2-4 turns. I recommend implementing a notification alerting players that the move Taunt has ended. In competitive play, without this notification, Taunt becomes an RNG-based move with a guessing game component. You cannot fully rely on this wonderful move in PokeMMO because you have no clue whether Taunt has ended after just 2 turns. The user is forced to use Taunt a second time, potentially wasting a turn if the Taunt hasn't ended, or risk being hit with a devastating non-damaging move (such as Will-o-Wisp) if the Taunt had ended. It just seems like common sense to implement this and I hope that it does. Discuss.

  6. Since nobody else will, i guess I am going to, and its going to be bad, and you will still like it. Show exact IV's in the summary window, quite simple. With the new breeding system it is almost a required change. Especially when breeding hidden power, we can't spend hundreds of hours narrowing iv's on tons of catches looking for that one exact pokemon with the very specific iv's needed to ensure a specific hidden power. Actually its a change that should have been made long ago as a trading patch to prevent scams or people just miscalculating and selling bad things. This all began https://forums.pokemmo.eu/index.php?/topic/49263-new-breeding-system-megathread-discussion/?p=982065

  13. I don't think it makes the game too easy it just takes some, in my opinion, unnesecary grinding out of the game. To breed a decent Pokemon from scratch (like 25+ all 31 speed) you'll have to catch a few hundred Pokemon. Then you need to grind money for braces and then you need to grind everstones. If on top of that I need to narrow like ~60 pokemon for tjeir exact IVs or at least the 31s I'll be busy for another 6 hours. While half od them turn out to be unusable, not even accounting breeding for Hidden Power that requires allexact IVs. All for the change. I don't like the 'grind to grind' conxept we have now. (Catch and narrow).

    Breeding - New System

I came back to this game a week ago to check out the update. The new breeding system was a bit confusing at first, so I decided to not use any of my old breeding stash, but instead make a good poke from scratch as I try to get the hang of it. I went for a poke that I knew would be popular. So I cought a few Mudkips along with 1x31 Azumarils and Surskits (all in the same pond, how convenient), and started breeding. With a bit of planning I got it to 5x31 the same day. My intention was to sell this breed, and so I did. I repeated this process a couple of times (with different pokes), and almost doubled my money in a weeks time. I am by no means a veteran player. But I did have quite a bit of money when I came back. So I was able to spend money on braces and female mudkips from the start. I understand this is an issue for new players. But in my opinion it should. I used to do alot of breeding and trading to get a decent amount of cash. New players are perfectly capable of doing the same. Buy low, sell high, and all that good stuff. Maybe grind some everstones with a Quagsire to start you off or something. I don't see any problems there. Without this effort, or grind, it wouldn't be a rewarding mmo at all. And new players shouldn't be able to make top tier pokes without putting in the work. I quit before because of the incredibly boring and tedious breeding system. It was just a matter of being in a good team with a good stash of breeders. And time, alot of time. Then sell off all the breeds that didnt make the cut. Flooding the market with misfit godlys. Never losing money. I am very much liking the new breeding system. It actually feels like you're making progess instead of hoping to get that one lucky breed. The market is no longer flooding with godly Smeargles and Eevees. Spending that hard earned cash and making good pokes feels quite rewarding now. And to balance your bankroll you have to decide between keeping and selling. Instead of selling all the misfits. About the parents being killed. It's fucking pokemon, who cares about logic. In my opinion this game needed a way to get rid of all the excess breeds, and now it does. Felt I had to put this out there, because I really do enjoy this new system.

  20. Update: In a somewhat dismal team tournament we saw [LYLE] get first rounded in the absence of KingBowser and [AW] lose to newcomer [YOLO]. [PoAu] went down early to [CiX] who went on to win their very first team tournament championship, propelling themselves into 5th place with their previous runner-up finish. [CiX] may have won in controversial fashion, but you can't hate the player, just the game. Here's to hoping [YOLO] can lift themselves up after their first team tournament and grind out a few more deep runs, possibly knocking off [CiX] in future match-ups. Do we hear [LYLE] vs [AW] remade with this new rivalry? Who knows, but one thing is for certain... you never know what to expect with the best event in PokeMMO.

  22. #Devsarepoopy This sounds alot like a fuck up on the devs part, the players werent to know if this was an exploit or not. Once again the stupidity and short sightedness of those who create this game shines through, a simple warning and the removal of gained funds would have sufficed

I'm on this And I'm still not done with Seavault Canyon, so let's say that will yield me like 180k in total. This would take me like 30min. Encountering and Pay Daying Pokemon per minute should be around 3, which gives you let's say 450x3 = 1350 a minute. 1350 x 30 = 40k So by no means is it faster. edit: Oki done:

    The Breeding Guide

*Not so new anymore kek What is the goal of this guide? 1. To explain the basics of the new breeding system. 2. To explain how to acheive a perfect 6x31, correct nature pokemon, and how much it will cost (on a monetary level). 3. To also provide a more "economical" approach to the breeding system. 4. If you wanna know how much breeding might cost you, check out OldKeith's Guide What is NOT the goal of this guide? 1. To argue about whether or not the breeding system should be changed. 2. To complain about losing pokemon in the process. 3. To vent anger at the system. 4. i.e. Anything not related to receiving/giving help with breeding Disclaimer: This is a TEXT HEAVY, Graphic Minimal guide. If you just want to know the basics of the new breeding, then read the numbered list below. If you want to know how to breed what you want, then delve into the sea of text in any of the following three sections. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Basic Breeding Video (Highly recommend watching, especially if you don't like to read): ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, here are the most important mechanics in the new breeding system: 1. Both parent pokemon are traded away to the daycare couple and will NOT be given back to the player. 2. Two parent pokemon will produce ONE egg (no more, no less). 3. An egg will hatch over a period of time (no steps or flags anymore). 4. One can give an everstone to a parent with a desireable nature to have a 100% chance of passing that nature down to the offspring (the everstone WILL be consumed along with the parents). 5. Three IVs are passed down directly from the parents to the child. The other three IVs are then calculated by the averages of the parents, which are rounded down. 6. One can use a brace, which can be bought from a NPC who resides in each daycare for 10k each, and these braces can be given to a parent to ensure that a specific IV of your choice is passed down to the child (this DOES count as one of the three directly inherited IVs for the child). 7. If a pokemon has two potential abilities, then there is an 80% chance that the mother's ability is passed to the offspring. 8. The player is capable of switching a pokemon's ability with a consumable item; thus ability breeding is not a concern at the moment (mechanics for abilities will change in the future as stated here). 9. You can choose the gender of the egg for a fee, listed in the spoiler below, which scales with the species' gender ratio (the more unbalanced the ratio, the more expensive). 10. Genderless pokemon of the same evolution line (i.e. a magnemite and a magneton) can breed together. Note that you still cannot breed two dittos together (but ditto still can breed with any other pokemon). 11. Hidden Power breeding is mostly pointless, since you can get a 6x31 pokemon with any hidden power you want thanks to typed gems (look up mysterious gems). 12. This is a useful guide for egg move breeding. 13. You can shiny breed in this game. 2 regular parents give normal (1/30,000 + modifiers) odds of getting a shiny. You cannot breed a normal pokemon with a shiny pokemon. If you breed 2 shiny pokemon together, the offspring will be shiny. The IV's are passed in the following manner: 2 IVs are randomly selected, but can be dictated by Breeding Braces 2 IVs are randomly selected, but they choose a stat (of which cannot already be selected by the previous bullet point), and then picks the higher IV between the two parents the remaining 2 IVs are averaged between the two parents. Bred shiny pokemon's OT is determined differently than regular breeding. If the offspring pokemon is of the same evolution line as your OT shiny, then the offspring will have your OT. So, for example, you have a male shiny Charmeleon, and you breed with a random OT shiny female Charizard. Even though the female parent isn't your OT, the offspring Charmander will have your OT. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -credit to RacheLucario This section lists out step by step how to get a perfect 6x31 pokemon with the correct nature. Open the spoiler below (WARNING: prepare yourself for a wall of text and numbers) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This section is to give an example to a budget breeder's guide to breeding for a competitive pokemon. The goal is to get as close to a 31 speed and 5x25+ pokemon as possible with the least amount of money. This will use a lot less braces than the 6x31 section.

    OU Viability Thread

By DrCraig Welcome to the OU Viability Thread. If you do not know what a viability thread entails read further. A viability thread has as purpose to put Pokémon into 'ranks', by lack of a better term. In the OU viability rankings we base our rankings on how viable certain Pokémon in OU are. Discussion is encouraged and remember that you are always entitled to your opinion but forget not to be respectful to other community members. There won't be a split between offensive/defensive/support Pokémon as this is a general viability thread. Meaning offensive and defensive Pokémon can fit into the same rank without utilizing the same role. Lastly, this thread also functions as a discussion about the OU metagame. So by all means do not hold back on discussing your thought; how you think can go better, or how you think everything is already going good. Bringing underrated Pokémon up for discussion is also part of a viability thread discussion. Hot topics: PokeMMO OU Viability Ranking (In alphabetical orders) (definitions of each rank blatantly stolenborrowed from Smogon) S Rank: Reserved for Pokemon that are the pinnacle of the OU metagame. These Pokemon are able to perform a variety of roles very effectively, or can just do one extremely well. Their use has low risk involved and high reward exerted. Pokemon in this rank have very few flaws that are patched up by numerous positive traits. These Pokemon define the metagame. S Rank: Heracross Metagross Snorlax A Rank: Reserved for Pokemon that are fantastic in the OU metagame, and can sweep, support, or wall significant portions of the metagame. These Pokemon require less support than most others to be used effectively and have few flaws that can easily be compensated for when compared to their positive traits. These Pokemon exert a strong presence in the metagame. A+ Rank: Gengar Gyarados Weezing A Rank: Arcanine Blissey Dugtrio Kingdra Slowbro B Rank: Reserved for Pokemon that are great in the OU metagame. These Pokemon have more notable flaws than those above them that affect how they function in the tier. Their positive traits still outshine their negatives, but they require a bit more team support to bring out their full potential. These Pokemon exert an above average presence in the metagame. B+ Rank: Cloyster Flygon Forretress Jolteon Porygon2 Skarmory Ursaring Vaporeon B Rank: Ludicolo Rhydon C Rank: Reserved for Pokemon that are mediocre in the OU metagame, but have just as many notable flaws that prevent them from being effective. Pokemon in the C tier often require significant support to be effective. Pokemon from this rank tend to face a lot of competition with the more commonly used Pokemon. These Pokemon exert a below average presence in the metagame. C Rank: Breloom Espeon Machamp Umbreon D Rank: Reserved for Pokemon that are highly mediocre in the OU metagame, but are viable enough to justify their use on select teams. These Pokemon are only capable of doing their specific task and fail at doing anything more than that. Pokemon from this rank have multiple crippling flaws that prevent them from being successful a majority of the time, and are often severely outclassed because of it. These Pokemon exert a poor presence in the metagame. D Rank:

  36. I agree to all of those points so far, after playing a lot of OU in the past 2 days, I've noticed heracross is a fucking bitch, especially when someone is running slowbro+blissey+snorlax. There are no great switch ins for heracross either at this point, dragonite+gyarados take massive damage from cb rock slides, same with gengar, basically weezing is the only good answer to heracross. Slowbro gets many opportunities to switch in and checks many physical threats so that is an S rank imo. Dragonite the same with its extreme speed to check many fast sweepers or set up sweepers and gets access to dragon claw to obliterate anything that isn't a steel type and thunderbolt to obliterate anything that is slowbro or a steel type. Heracross might be A or A+ just because it doesn't get a lot of switch ins and has more counters than dragonite and less versatility.

Hercalacross isn't popular right now, there's no reason for it to be A+/S Rank just because you think people just haven't figured out to use it. If it's not used at all, there's probably a decent reason. Kind of like how people are arguing about how insane Dugtrio supposedly is because of a hatred for trapping, but in reality, it's just not relevant anymore. It's A rank at best, arguably lower than that.

Double post but I'll be disbanding the team. There's not enough active players to keep it going since after the update and those we do recruit seem to die off rather quick. I hope the players who remained active(lol like 3 of you) agree with me on this now and find active teams again and enjoy their MMO experience. I've removed any players who haven't been active in more than weeks time already but I've left a similar message in the team board for the rest if they do choose to log on within the 24 hours disbanding period. We did alright for the time we were active and we got a few players associated with the competitive scene that are still in the works so I hope I run into you all in officials in the upcoming year! Good luck everyone and thank you for being apart of the team. :)

  44. The game always favoured alts ALWAYS so when the payout favoured using alts as well there was nothing 'out of place'. This is the devs their own fault for not dealing with alts properly all this time. And to act on it now that they did, for punishing players for their own obvious oversights is terrible. They should've dealt with alts a long time ago, period.

  45. The most important question is how do you know as a player what is an exploit and what is not? I understand something like Lucky Egg duplication is easily an exploit because obviously everyone can tell that multiplying an item shouldn't be intentional. However, in this case the NPC gives yen as it's supposed to be and no rule in the history of this game has prevented alt farming. I'd be completely fine that when you realized this thing is an exploit you would write a rule stating that using multiple accounts to farm yen is not allowed. But since this is a purposely implemented mechanic how can you call this as an exploit? Not like it really matters, since this one player might have quit for good because of this but just the principle of it unban this player's alts, please.
