The meta was changing, the rules were changing, and the amount of pokemon available. Teams of Year To understand the classification of the teams, we need to separate the TTs into a few time periods. 2013-2017: Players ranking 2018-2020: Points-based ranking, 16 teams TTs 2021-present Points-based ranking, 32 teams TTs 2013-2017: Players Ranking During this time there were few attempts at creating the power ranking of teams. We will base the scores of 2013-2017 on this thread, as it calculates team wins in mentioned years. In the summary of those years, you will still see the points-based table, but it was made in 2018 by me when the whole points system was created. The old system has counted 1st and 2nd place only, basing the outcome of a year on them. I suggest reading the thread DoubleJ has made for a piece of history. We understand that something staff-made and similar could've existed earlier and because of this we have decided to honor the system commonly acknowledged by players during this period when it comes to rewarding team of the year with vanities. The system used by players was simple. 5 points for first place, 2 points for 2nd place. This resulted in a tie in 2016 and we will honor both of the tied teams. Special thanks to both @DoubleJ and @OrangeManiacfor maintaining those threads in the past. 2018-2020: Points-based ranking, 16 teams TTs 2018 was the first time we used the points-based ranking. This was still a time when we had 16 teams in each TT. The tables you will see under this post reflect the points system changed to match the currently used one. 15 points for Champions, 7 for 2nd place, 4 for the semifinal, 2 for 3rd round, and 1 for 2nd round. Originally it was 10 points for the Champions. 2021-present Points-based ranking, 32 teams TTs Since 2021 we had 32 teams in the tournament, and 3rd round was introduced there. For a while now, after each edition players can voice their opinions about the future of TT on the discord - and I recommend joining it! - and thanks to it, TT evolves. After 2023, we will once again vote about the points system and the bracket seeding. among other things. The megatable above is based on this points system. The meta was changing, the rules were changing, and the amount of pokemon available. Teams of Year To understand the classification of the teams, we need to separate the TTs into a few time periods. 2013-2017: Players ranking 2018-2020: Points-based ranking, 16 teams TTs 2021-present Points-based ranking, 32 teams TTs 2013-2017: Players Ranking During this time there were few attempts at creating the power ranking of teams. We will base the scores of 2013-2017 on this thread, as it calculates team wins in mentioned years. In the summary of those years, you will still see the points-based table, but it was made in 2018 by me when the whole points system was created. The old system has counted 1st and 2nd place only, basing the outcome of a year on them. I suggest reading the thread DoubleJ has made for a piece of history. We understand that something staff-made and similar could've existed earlier and because of this we have decided to honor the system commonly acknowledged by players during this period when it comes to rewarding team of the year with vanities. The system used by players was simple. 5 points for first place, 2 points for 2nd place. This resulted in a tie in 2016 and we will honor both of the tied teams. Special thanks to both @DoubleJ and @OrangeManiacfor maintaining those threads in the past. 2018-2020: Points-based ranking, 16 teams TTs 2018 was the first time we used the points-based ranking. This was still a time when we had 16 teams in each TT. The tables you will see under this post reflect the points system changed to match the currently used one. 15 points for Champions, 7 for 2nd place, 4 for the semifinal, 2 for 3rd round, and 1 for 2nd round. Originally it was 10 points for the Champions. 2021-present Points-based ranking, 32 teams TTs Since 2021 we had 32 teams in the tournament, and 3rd round was introduced there. For a while now, after each edition players can voice their opinions about the future of TT on the discord - and I recommend joining it! - and thanks to it, TT evolves.
