Dude, what are you talking about? One facepalm thread after another.
What do TMs in the GTL have to do with dev money?
They didn't change the game itself, they just decided that the older TM system suits the MMO better.
You do understand what an MMO is? There needs to be progress, things to work towards, gated content. This is PokeMMO, not pokemon handhelds in slightly different. You will face many more changes that may seem odd to you but are (most of the time?) done for a reason, probably economy/battle/difficulty balance.

Would there be a possibility to add something like a player name search bar to look for the match we want to see. That would be kindda useful if the server can't show all of them that way we can expectate our team mates or is there another plan you guys have around it?

This would only be required if seeking perfect randomness, which my implementation did not. Sufficient randomness is achieved by queueing players after winning, then pairing random players from that queue while a minimum player count remains in the queue. Minimum player counts are derived based on the round's match states, which has the drawback that, the further the round proceeds, the more predictable your opponent becomes. This has a minor drawback of causing players who completed early to wait a few minutes longer before further rounds, but does not increase total tournament time.

Scouting is not a solvable problem in our game, which is why I did not seek perfect randomness for my round shuffling impl. As you mentioned, perfectly anonymizing tournament participants is required to resolve it, and we're not willing to sacrifice the social experience for that.

It should be noted that round shuffling is only effective while the player group is too large to be documented by spectators. If a large group of players coordinated simultaneously to document everyone's party, a reasonable prediction of playstyles and parties could be created in real time. The best way to handle scouting from a player perspective is to build more teams and play a variety of styles, and work with other players to borrow items to give yourselves more possible variety.

The lack of the ability to develop teams in secrecy is an interesting oversight, and we may consider an option to suppress Spectatorship for direct duels between Friends/Guildmates.

You are only gaining new options. All new TMs/TRs were implemented as standard TMs.

There's no definitive plans for these at the moment, but we're toying with the idea of "featuring" alternate game modes which would have exclusive rewards. LC, Triples, Rotation Battles, Co-op Doubles/Triples, and FFA battles would fall under this category, and could be rotated out regularly for some gimmick variety, perhaps on a weekly basis.

In hindsight, Doubles is probably a better choice for a secondary game mode in MM than either UU or NU. We will likely support it for MM in either this update or the next. UU & NU are naturally harder to understand than Doubles due to the restricted species set, and I noted earlier on that we have no real explanation of how tiers are decided inside the game client. I feel like their turnout is always going to be more depressed than something which is more easily accessible like OU/Doubles, but I hope to be proven wrong.

The standard policy used by the GMs is 2x(0-31), 4x25. This was intended to address things like Gyro Ball/Trick Room builds, where 0 qualifies as a perfect stat, and the tournament prize was gimped as a result of technical constraints.

    Yes

Mostly yes. Some recipes will require previously useless items.

Some things will be omitted, though we're defaulting to inclusion for almost all moves. We're deferring most of the decision-making to the TC, and NP was noted for exclusion on Hydreigon. Whether Hydreigon will see DM is up to the TC if they believe it falls off too hard after Gen 8 I think.

The list of moves which will be excluded hasn't been finalized yet, sorry I can't give a better answer.

Caliginosus reacted to Kyu in PokeMMO Dev Blog 9000: Upcoming Content Changes for PvP
    Hi everyone,

The next game update will feature a wide list of changes for PvP players. This will include a general balancing patch, refinement of most PvP systems in the game, and refinement of management tasks like move tutoring.

    ====

    Automated PVP Updates

Matchmaking will see a suite of changes, including updated reward structures, a seasonal based matchmaking ELO system, and features to encourage more tier participation.

For reward structures, we have shifted the BP-based rewards to a streak-based approach. Over the years, we've been hesitant to include an automated Forfeit function in structured PvP due to the potential of encouraging poor quality matches where people forfeit while a match is still winnable. To counter this, players are now more encouraged to stay in a match at risk of losing their streak bonus, and additional bonuses are given if you're fighting an especially well ranked player.

Matchmaking ELO decay has been another problem which we let stagnate over the years, which will be resolved by a season system for ELO. Seasons will last 3 months (the first season after the update's deployment will be slightly shorter due to updating in the middle of a season) and will perform a hard reset of ELO once over. Each Season will be capped off by an automated tournament exclusive to the top players of each tier's leaderboard, winners of which will receive exclusive items.

To encourage UU/NU tier participation, we've introduced exclusive rewards for all tiers. Players may now also queue for multiple tiers in Matchmaking simultaneously, with a battle box assigned to each tier.

Automated Tournaments have seen some attention. Tournament rewards will be more versatile in their choices, allowing for Gender selection & selectable IVs with any value (0~31). PokeMMO's Game Masters may also choose to give stacks of items, vanity items, or BP in future tournaments too. (Note that these changes only apply to future tournaments, not ones which have already been scheduled, or rewards which have been already mailed to players).

On the small side, players will now be able to spectate others while queueing for matchmaking & tournaments with no fear of missing their queue. We'll now automatically shift from Spectate mode to Battle mode when a match is found. Battle Boxes are now also less terrible to manage, and can be assigned and changed more easily in the PC UI.

    ====

    Generation 8 Updates

With the introduction of Gen 8, many moves have had updated functionality increasing their versatility. Move changes will be included where applicable (Teleport, Rapid Spin, Healing Wish, Fling, and Howl), as well as ability changes (Intimidate, Moody) and egg group updates for a few species trees.

This changeset also introduces Gens 1 & 2 TM moves to the relevant species, and Gen 7 changes which we'd omitted until now, including Gen7-3 (LGPE) movepools and missing mechanical changes to Gengar's ability, and the Prankster ability.

Movepools for all species have been updated in some way or another, and the changes are far too numerous to note. In general, Gen 8 has priority over all other changes, then additional moves are processed from there.

    ====

    Movepool Management Updates

Those knowledgeable with earlier Gens & Gen 8 will notice that we are introducing a slew of new TMs- over 100, actually. This large bulk of items necessitated that we look at how we can better the move learning systems, and we've focused on streamlining the gain of renewable moves.

Each region will now host an NPC in every healing center you come across, which will offer to teach you all of the Tutor moves that a region can offer, if you've acquired 8 badges in that region. 4 Shard-based "Regional Move Master" tutors are present in the game, 1 for each region, allowing you to learn regional-exclusive moves for a Shard+Item-based feed.

Each of them is also accompanied by a Move Deleter & Relearner NPC. Prices for Relearners will also now more properly reflect the value of the move being relearned. All regions now have a store which will sell every TM in the game in their respective department stores, after you've completed its storyline.

Redundant tutor data for all tutors has been removed, meaning no more TM / Tutor overlap. For GBA areas, NPCs with single-move move tutor scripts (e.g. Dream Eater) will now simply give untradeable TMs. Older Shard tutors have been removed entirely, and their moves redistributed as either TMs or into the newer Shard tutors.

Overall, we feel it should be much easier to keep track of and learn.

    ====

This overview is not comprehensive, but covers the most important things we'll be changing this update. We're currently finalizing everything and expect to release it in early July. We hope you'll enjoy.

    Thanks for reading

Caliginosus reacted to Poufilou in Breeders Trading Hub
Hello everyone ! Many players try to get shinies through breeding. But they often come across the difficulty of finding breeders for their massive breeding. Some people often sell them whole boxes of breeders, but they are rare to find ; otherwise they have to spend money on GTL on individual cheap breeders.

The idea of this Hub is to help these players to find what they need, while getting money in the process. How it works :

Players can trade their dittos or Male breeders from whatever egg group to the account "BreedTradingHub" They don't have to trade a whole box, they can trade 10 pokemons minimum Their pokemons will be stocked while waiting to be sold by a buyer Once a box is bought, each player who helped to fill the box gets a % of money depending on how many pokemons they sent (if they sent 20/60 breeders, they get 1/3 of money)
Each box price was calculated like this : average price on GTL * 60 - 60k (price of each GTL fee) +20k (profit for players)

The 20k bonus in price is here in order to be profitable for players that send their breeders instead of listing them on GTL, and to incitate them to send their mons here.
As result, someone who wants to buy in bulk can buy a full box for 40k less, and a player that sells their mons can make up to 20k profit.

    REMINDER
What people are looking for are MALE breeders (or dittos). They do not have to have 31s, just random IVs.  You can trade to BreedTradingHub 10 pokemons MINIMUM from one egg group.

    HOW IT WORKS

    SELLERS :
All trades will happen online, so you don't waste money on mail fee  Send mail to : "BreedTradingHub" with the amount of pokemon you want to trade detailed Or send message to Discord : Lala#5068 I will try to catch you online so we can do the trade
    BUYERS :
All trades will happen online, so I don't waste money on mail fee Send mail to : "BreedTradingHub" with the egg group box you want to buy  I will try to catch you online so we can do the trade  If no box is available, you will get a mail when a box is filled and you will get priority of delivery depending on the order of when you sent me mail
    MARKET :
You can see the state of the market on this sheet : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ecQWuWcsFToV9aoNB0Gpt4sK5r1ZzdVIhhaMDji3nj0/edit?usp=sharing

    BOX PRICES :
    Ditto (180k) Fairy (110k) Plant (80k) Monster (50k) Bug (45k) Flying (45k) Field (45k) Water A (45k) Humanoid (45k) Water C (45k) Mineral (45k) Chaos (45k) Water B (45k) Dragon (45k)

    DETAILS :

If you give me pokemons that have 2 egg groups, they will be on stock for those 2 egg groups and will be sold for the egg group that sells first, except if one of the egg group is Fairy or Plant, then they will be sold in priority as Fairy and Plant breeders (since they give more money).

    *
I do NOT profit from any of this, it is just to help every players to trade.

    *

Share this Trading Hub along to everyone who might need it ! Never release your Male pokemons !

If Hub is successful, another account will be made to have more stock.

Caliginosus reacted to Senile in [LC Discussion] Regirock
Alright, I knew this thread would come eventually.

Listen, I know that on paper, Regirock seems completely overwhelming in LC, but you're not accounting for the fact that it doesn't get an Eviolite boost.

This is HUGE, and it means it's a lot less bulky than you'd expect from it's raw stats:

    236+ Atk Life Orb Drilbur Earthquake vs. 236 HP / 116+ Def Eviolite Onix: 16-18 (69.5 - 78.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO 236+ Atk Life Orb Drilbur Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Regirock: 18-23 (66.6 - 85.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Yes, it's still bulky, and yes it still has a very high attacking stat. With that being said, that's the only role it can really perform; Physically bulky tank. It's too easily checked, because even if you try to Trick Room, base 50 speed isn't enough to outslow a lot of pokemon in LC, while also not being fast enough for a lot of threats. Without Eviolite and it's pure Rock type, the idea of it ever having any mixed tanking ability is laughable, especially since Sandstorm will only last 5 turns, turns that are probably better spent on, say, sweeping with Drilbur, not to mention that Hippopotas and Regirock have a decent deal of redundancy when on the same team.

Curse is a setup that will basically never work, because of how insanely easy it is to check specially. Even if you do manage to get a KO from a Curse boost, unless your opponent has thrown all their special attackers into the garbage bin, you're now insanely easy to kill.

As a support-esque defensive mon, I'd argue Onix is a very comparable threat. Yes, Regirock hits a lot harder, but Onix is legitimately quite fast, and has Sturdy for use in a pinch. I don't think it's completely in Regirock's favor, especially since Onix has STAB on Earthquake:

    0 Atk Regirock Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 36 Def Drilbur: 11-13 (50 - 59%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
    0 Atk Onix Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 36 Def Drilbur: 12-15 (54.5 - 68.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

The biggest nail in the coffin for Regirock is, IMO, how hard a pokemon that's supposed to be a physical tank gets thrashed by top tier physical attackers. The dominant fighting types of Mienfoo, Scraggy, and Timburr are all pokemon that Regirock would never dare to switch in against. Even beyond them, threats like Drilbur and Pawniard both hit Regirock way too hard; And of course, any top tier special attacker makes Regirock's life terrible.

tl;dr: Regirock is overhyped, and really isn't that good. Give it time, then we can discuss it.

So as everyone pretty much knows NU and UU matchmaking is fairly dead. So I thought I'd make a thread for when anyone is gonna hop on; they say it here and get a few other people on too. Maybe we could even arrange set times on set days to try and revive this feature, as the ability to play NU and UU is there but no one uses it. Collectively maybe we can get this ball rolling and actually get some matches, it's a long shot but as NU and UU tours fill I don't see why we can't have active matchmaking for the two.

There's now a discord server for arranging matchmaking battles: https://discord.gg/Tk8PHRx (If you are interested in playing NU or UU ladder i would highly recommend joining here as it will be alot more active than this thread)

Isn't the purpose of these special bans (Evasion abilities but only really because of Garchomp, Wobbuffet, Draco Meteor Hydreigon) to make sure nothing goes from OU to Ubers and thus become unsable from PokeMMO gameplay perspective? LC Pokemon don't have that problem in that sense, you can use Mienfoo in NU or evolve to Mienshao and still use your Pokemon. So are these possible ability bans/nullifications as acceptable to nerf a LC Pokemon as it is to make sure nothing goes to actual Ubers? I think this is something the people should know from tiering discussion perspective.

Edit: I get that Arena Trap is banned because all of its users removed needed counters for the health of the metagame. But Regen Mienfoo seems only to try to keep Mienfoo from not getting banned because it is just too damn good.

Alomomola is not good enough to even cut C tier to be honest. Yeah, it has a good physical bulk, but its spdef is too bad. Doesn't even have enough power to deal decent damage. Also, its movepool is pretty limited, even considering is a support. Mons like slowking/slowbro (we need to put this in the same place as slowking, since their only difference is that their defenses swap) outclass it by far, and they are already considered C tier (this might need to change).
The aqua jet option is not even worth discussing; whoever runs that in alomomola should not be taken in consideration like, ever.  And until we have regenerator, the ability is thrash.

It is now official that a guy in Kanto, (one week later after eating a Zubat lol) has been diagnosed with this new and highly infectious virus and the government hasn't taken any measures against it.

The Ninja Mask is at an inaccessible price (500 rp each 1, 900k~ in convertion), the Pokémon center only admits Pokémon (dah), and Pokémon are not affected by the Coronavirus, also the Vermilion port connects with the biggest city in PokéMMO, Castelia city in Unova, directly.

We need to take measures immediately to prevent a bigger problem, maybe cancel every Catch event, Tournament and the TT.
