    mamoswine.pngabomasnow.pngrotom-wash.pngtogekiss.pnghitmontop.pngcrobat.png

A bit of a different take on the Mamo TW teams, mainly using Abomasnow because it has a good match up against Mow and Wash and the Hail helps out getting KOs for Mamo, on top of that the Grass typing allows for more EQ Spam.

    mamoswine.pngabomasnow.png

This is the offensive Ice core of this team, Mamoswine and Abomasnow pressure each others checks very well. With Mamo being able to threaten Steel types, while Abomasnow can deal with bulky Waters. The 'sleeper-sweeper' in this team also enjoys Steel types being weakened. Double Ice Shard allows for a lot of utility and control. Not much else to say about this, they just are threatening together and the rest of the team aims to take advantage of the holes they open up or support this core to punch through the enemy team. Sash is a perfect item on Mamo as it has a very competitive speed tier and it takes no damage from both Sand or Hail.

    rotom-wash.png

Bulky Rotom has fallen a bit out of flavor, but it is still incredible at disrupting the opponent. WoW helps us cripple stuff like Steel and Fighting types, which can otherwise be a menace to our main offensive core. Ally Switch should not be relied on, but it offers a way to redirect damage when it isn't expected, and this team does appreciate some redirection.

    togekiss.png

But what is Togekiss for? Well in this team it doesn't redirect, but actually deals damage and is a secondary win con. Nasty Plot seems a bit underappreciated on Togekiss, it has a surprisingly high base SpA and with Tailwind support it can clutch many games with Air Slash. It gives us another solid check to fighting types, but the rest of the team does need to support it by threatening Steels and Tyranitar. In a pinch Togekiss might be able to prevent Trick Room as well, but we do have Crobat and Fake Out support as well.

    hitmontop.png

Standard Hitmontop moveset. Wide Guard really helps this team out by protecting against opposing Heat Wave, or more importantly Rock Slide, it can also protect Hitmontop against Mamo's EQ in a pinch. With the Gem and investment, CC guarantees a knock out on max HP Chople Ttar, as well as doing massive damage against P2, that would likely fall to any other damage. Adamant or Impish don't matter here with the same base stat.

    crobat.png

Standard Bat, nothing to be improved upon. Using Quick Guard to guard against potential Fake Outs, Bullet Punches and so on. Taunt is important to shut down Dusclops or P2. With the help of Hail, Crobat actually threatens some Sashers like Mienshao and Chandelure.

    Alakazam Offense

    Teambuilding Process

    Spoiler

I started by picking Alakazam for this challenge. Alakazam has a lot of interesting features, it is a fierce sweeper yes. But it can also bring a lot of utility, with a wide array of supportive options and I think these supportive features have not been explored well enough yet. Using Alakazam does mean that the team will often lean towards offense, this team is no exception, being a fairly offensive but not quite HO team.

The main idea of this team is to utilize Toxic Spikes by pressuring teams with strong Psychic and Steel types. There aren't many Toxic Spike absorbers in the UU meta, and Bisharp complements that by pressuring the Defog. Furthermore the team pressures opposing Roserade very hard, which makes it tough for them to come in and absorb spikes freely. Tspikes allows mons like Alakazam, Bronzong and Swampert to really threaten Pokémon that would usually be able to deal with them, like P2, Dusclops, Spiritomb. While the team also pressures opposing Steel types with strong Earthquakes.

    alakazam.png

Alakazam offers a lot of pressure, but it has two major flaws. It is incredibly frail and also gets easily pursuit trapped in a tier with many pursuit users. Spiritomb and Krookodile are definitely two mons that make using Alakazam really tough, but again it is mostly the full sweeper Zam that experiences these issues most. Using Substitute allows Zam to scout for switches, and more importantly have a solid way around Sucker Punch. Encore gives Zam some really nice utility, by being able to lock mons into boosting or healing moves. I'm still on the fence on either Encore or Disable in the last slot, but I wouldn't be able to tell without testing. Encore is definitely safer versus Spunch, but Disable allows for a lot of utility combined with Substitute.

EVs: Max speed might be a bit of a waste on Zam, as without Sball it doesn't benefit from speed tieing with other Zams, the next benchmark to hit was Durant I believe, but again my speed tier knowledge is a bit limited in UU. A few EVs in Spdef allows Alakazam to live a Scarf Tri Attack from PZ in a pinch (after rocks) and the physical bulk allows Zam to live CB Bullet Punch and Aqua Jet after Rocks.

    roserade.png

Roserade will often be the lead of this team, carrying the Focus Sash to cripple the opposing team quickly with Sleep Powder and Toxic Spikes. Hidden Power Fire is necessary to get Forretress out of the way, who can otherwise Spin comfortably against Rose.

EVs: Outspeed timid Rotom, while the defense bulk allows us to live a Belly Drum Aqua Jet from full HP.

    bisharp.png

Bisharp functions as a deterrent for Defog and can take advantage of Pokémon locked into Dark moves.

EVs: Outspeed max speed Modest Empo, the Spdef investment allows Bisharp to survive 2 Tri Attacks from Scarf PZ, rest of the EVs have to be weird cause lvl 50 sucks.

    swampert.png

Offensive Pert hits incredibly hard, and with Refresh it can shrug of Will o Wisps from the likes of Rotom, Dusclops or Spiriomb and Toxic from P2. Being able to shrug status off while the others are being whittled by Toxic Spikes allow us to force these mons to Recover, giving us opportunity to switch to other threatening mons.

EVs: Again level 50 sucks. 196Atk EVs allow us to OHKO standard Calm Empoleon, while providing enough fire power to threaten others. Standard speed to outspeed Ada Rhyperior, the rest is in bulk while keeping the Spdef 1 stat higher.

    bronzong.png

Offensive Bronzong can hit incredibly hard with an invested Earthquake and Gyro Ball. Iron Ball allows Bronzong to further cripple mons and makes Rotom-H, opposing Bronzong and Crobat vulnerable to Earthquake. Iron Ball does negate its own Levitate, but your opponent will not know that until it sees Iron Ball. The last slot I'd have to experiment with, for now it holds Hidden Power Fire to hit Forretress.

    crobat.png

CB Bat, with all the pressure around Steel types the bat can be a surprise cleaner, while Pursuit can also offer a lot of utility. Most importantly it offers many key resistances that the team is lacking, like Bug, Fighting and also Ground while Bronzong is still holding on to that Iron Ball. The last moveslot is a bit tricky. QA could maybe pinch some important KO against a fast Scarf or boosted Priority user, but things like Cross Poison, Toxic or Defog are viable options as well.

    Usage Tips

    Spoiler

The first thing to understand about the team is that you want to end matches relatively fast if you can. The team does not have many recovery options, but it does have multiple tools to disrupt the opponent like Sleep, Encore, Trick etc. You will often be the aggressor, don't forget that the opponent will be afraid of you when it sees the damage the Pokémon are dealing.

You will often want to lead with Rose and either fire off a Powder or a Spike. Other good leads are Crobat, Swampert and even Bronzong if you forsee that you will need the utility of Levitate quickly. (Sadly Iron Ball is a double-edged sword sometimes, but Metagross does not gain Levitate after Trick, making it less desirable for the team). Use Alakazam to bait in bulkier mons that would get crippled by Tspikes if you can. Or force in their Steel Types and pressure with Swampert and Bronzong.

  3. So are we going to talk about how two new members got shadow invited and one PokeMMO team now holds 4 out of 9 seats in the TC? That just means a whole team needs just one vote to make tier changes, this is pretty ridiculous. Note: I don't have anything against the players promoted, good on them, but it doesn't seem like the TC is getting any more transparent which -newsflash- was and is the main problem with TC.

  4. Comparing P-Z to Hydreigon and then saying 'what sets PZ apart' is kind of misleadingJJ. It's one of the better comparisons overall, I would agree with that. But Hydrei had far more switch in opportunities in the tier than Pz has. It had some great resistances that let it come in on very common OU mons, basically for free. Which is part of the reason why it was so strong. Pz on the other hand, isn't as easy to bring and doesn't have the longevity of Hydrei. Tri Attack is more spammable, but also has more resistances and is in some ways riskier to click than Draco Meteor. Not really pushing for ban or keep, just expanding on your points.

  5. Who knew PBS would end before One Piece? I think Oda might release that final chapter tomorrow. Good luck finalists, you've all done a fantastic job!

Why do people like you who have absolutely zero clue about PvP feel the need to comment on a PvP-related topic?

Nonetheless, I'll still take the time and effort to entertain your worthless and uninformed opinion because there are a few who would genuinely want to know the answer to this.  We want our pokemon competitive play to be on a level where there is a balance between luck and skill.  There is going to be a conflict there because, in general, competitive play largely relies on skill over luck, yet we competitively play a game that uses a large number of luck-based elements.  To balance out the two, we have clauses in place to minimize the amount of effect luck has on a game.  Since you're absolutely clueless about it, here is a list of clauses in place:

    https://forums.pokemmo.eu/index.php?/topic/37764-official-pokemmo-list-of-clauses-updated-with-tournament-mode-clauses/

The purpose of the clauses is so that people don't rely on luck-based strategies to overcome skill, because that in effect would kill competitive play.  The purpose of the topic is to remove these specific luck-based elements (kings rock etc.) because these completely kill competitive play.  We're not asking to remove crits / damage rolls / status because then we wouldn't really be playing Pokemon.  Not every single thing has to be in the extreme end of a spectrum (one end being 0 RNG and the other end being 0 bans/clauses) because a balance of the two can exist.

b-but gamedesign noob. Not having hax items is bad game design because all other battle items are way overpriced for casual pvp players to experiment with!
