Yeah I'm struggling on trying to beat him too. Even last year it was tough.

@EliznThe solution is easy, the solution is that the boss does not depend on RNG and luck. The boss must be defeated with strategy, even if it is more difficult, but the RNG simply ruins the essence of the boss, it is like betting in a casino, it is pure luck.

This is my first Halloween event, and I tried several times until I finally beat it. I followed last year's strategy, only with modifications to the items, the use of power-ups.About the stats in battle (Attack, Special and Speed X), Replace Tyranitar with Gengar, and keep an eye on the Stats that the Pumpkin King lowered in the 3rd stage

Easy but bad idea to not involve RNG. The problem would not just be that every player can farm it nonstop but it would also give botters the opportunity to create a pumpking tool. That would definitely ruin the market.

I like the rng. Even when I got absolutely rekt by the game yesterday evening after an afternoon of successful farming.

Why tho? there are way too many ways to prevent botters(they've already implemented clicks detection in android) without absolutely recking the average players experience. It's sad that you guys will defend the game on anything, I too have many hours and like this game more than others but getting blind and accepting anything the devs throw is crazy, events are meant for fun, this event is not enjoyable for even the players having thousands of hours simply due to rng. Nobody other than no life nerds care if the pumpkin bags drop to 50k or low during event, atleast non nerds can farm some too, this event will just create artificial scarcity of such event items.

I honestly don't get what you mean by having fun if RNG is not supposed to be a big factor. Do you still want it to have an impact or none at all? If none at all, it will just take the same usual clicks to win against pumpking with no effort at all while rng allows players to think and be creative. I don't see any fun in always using the same buttons and strategy to win. What makes it fun is that you actually have to use your mind to beat the pumpking. Even with a solid team you need to get creative depending on what nerfs the pumpking throw at you.

I really enjoy this event. I found that there is lot RNG that actually can be countered while the rest unfortunately brings us to defeat. Some people may disagree with the impossible RNG but I personally think that this what keep the pumpking hardmode is hard.

even though I've run this event smoothly so far, it can't be helped that the RNG sometimes punishes me heavily and forced me to defeat (like on the picture attached).

Ofcourse I'm very mad but what can I do is move on and learn what's my mistakes.

Ew. Sucks when even Broom cookie can't help in these situations.

In addition to your (excellent) explanation, remind what happened last year: there was a strat which pretty had 100% winrate with Taunt hydreigon. What happened: Devs nerfed it, and forums pretty much burned if I remember correctly. The solution they purposed was basiclly pure RNG, decreasing taunt success to 50% instead.

Not like it was any different in the past years

You can always sort of manipulate the AI with the perfect team so that the same thing happens all the time and then you'll only fear misses or crits

Idk if it's any different this year but that's how it used to be imo

Prob 2021 ye, sorry, but anyway the statement stays the same, the only way to balance 100% wr to make it """equal""" to everybody is to add rng, this year is too much imo and in many others' but I hope it's useful for calibring it better towards future events

Imo RNG is fine if you can react to it, RNG should be something that makes it harder because you have to react to it. This year everything has been nerfed so hard that it removes autonomy from player to react to RNG.

After many attempts with a few different strategies, i've come to the conclusion that you can get a decent winrate if you react properly to the Pumpking and his minions. From my experience the most consistent way to beat him is learning when to use (or not) healing items and cookies (for example broom cookies on 3rd phase, 1st turn if you believe it's going to use phantom strike on your AoE Attacking Mon, or in turn 3 + Max Potion if it used Ghastly Vision). Use at least 2 useful mons as reserves.

The biggest problem is if he keeps Hitting your mons with Fever Dreams on 2nd Phase, although you can use a Harvest Tropius to be less RNG dependant (still haven't tried this because i don't have one 😞).

On a good run i probably spend 40k including Special Candy, and on the worst scenarios i'ts something like 80/100k. It's sad losing after spending all that.

Remember to always have Full Heals, Max Potions, Full Restores, Energy Roots, Hyper Potions, Revive, Max Revive, the X items and the cookies. (might be forgetting about something).

TBH i must say i prefer this than just mindlessly clicking following a tutorial strategy. Not good for my farming though 😂.

It's been a while since i wrote something this long in English so i apologize if it's poorly written.

True, still figuring out how to counter this. I tried to use uproar and worry seed but this is just triggering the pumpking to use spirited away. My friend have an idea to use sand attack to lower the accuracy of fever dream but can't confirm the effectiveness of sand attack right now.
