November-2024 Movement Discussion

@Munya By policy, BL mons are set to be reviewed annually. When it comes to NU BL mons, will they get reviewed in 2024 and potentially released for January 2025? Or will it be like this year where BL mons were reviewed in late January and potentially released in February/March.

I'm asking because with the current UU/NU freeze, there might be a lot of movements to be expected in January and I was wondering if that included NU BL mons or not.

Usage of 5.5 to move up, 3 to go down.  With the BL reset this month we will be freezing movements between UU and NU temporarily.

Nothing moves based on usage.

Lol , NU have changed a lot for once do something right pls , why not drop vaporeon there's a toxicroak in the tier , nidoqueen there's milotic for it and its really op in the tier right now , durant there's intimidate qwilfish and also a lot of mons that could rk , also for nidoqueen etc .. we have assault vest .

Roserade we have golbat, bronzor, altaria, audino , moltres etc....

Ffs why u always complicate things

Also with the drop of clefable(2% usage) we can drop venomoth and can no longer be op in the tier .

But u always choose the bad decision

The right decision isn't always the most popular. UU is getting its turn and we'll need to not disrupt the tiering process too much should this be a grand failure.

Orange would like to review them more often than annually actually, so we will probably eventually lean towards that.  As for the end of year one idk, really leaning on community and TC feedback for whats happening right now with the current ongoing BL reset, probably depends on how everyone feels/when UU is in an okay state, since NU now might look entirely different than what NU will look like whenever UU<->NU tiering is unfrozen.

I don't have an issue with freezing usage movements because UU is highly unstable this month, but should've announced it ahead of time.
Are you freezing next month as well ?

The tier drops/rises used to work in 3 month cycles anyways. The specific monthly cutoff limits were introduced so that Pokemon that are almost guaranteed to move a tier up/down in the end of the cycle can be moved immediately - because keeping them would just delay the inevitable. The monthly moves used to be "a practical exception" to the 3 month cycles anyways, I don't really see how is it a problem we're neglecting this exception due to how volatile usage can be right now. For example, a Pokemon having/not having enough UU usage for a month tells absolutely nothing about whether it will have enough for the end of the cycle, considering how much the decisions regarding BL bans can shift the usage.

Staraptor will be banned back to BL as Uber Offensive, effective immediately(as in right now, go play).

Does this mean Bronzong rises back to OU?

Not that I'm aware of, nobody has mentioned wanting that to happen to me, and it wasn't above the cutoff this month.

I was curious because people decided to freeze Bronzong from rising to OU due to the BL2 mons dropping, but now Staraptor went I wasn't sure if there was any other reason to prevent it rising.

From my perspective, Bronzong wasn't kept just because we wanted to trial Staraptor. It's a healthy mon for the tier as a whole and keeps a lot in check.

Can we get an update on Lucario? is the opinion on it split between the TC or is more time needed for discussion?

We had proposed voting now, but the majority of the team would like to watch at least the next couple tournaments to see how Lucario stands without Staraptor pressuring defenses and paving the way for a Lucario sweep.

The problem is the Instability it'll bring to NU. Because the mon could've been used on UU to help handle something, it'll go up, and then he drops right back after 1-2 months because the mon he counters got banned. While he's off, the tier can be chaotic depending of the role he fits. Better course of action was to freeze the tiers, so the mons that will go up would only go up after TC be sure that he wasn't there just to counter something that's on the verge of a ban.

We acknowledge we may have made a mistake in our original placement of Scolipede with its HA within the NU tier, and will be moving it to UU, effective immediately.

Anything will be done about Switching moves?
