Since the staff doesn't wanna host a good tourney I will. The players listed below are the 28 best candidates from the opinion of a select few and myself. Last 4 are open spots to make your case if you wanna play. If you cannot play, tell me sooner than later so I can find a replacement. Looking for a couple folks to help host so I don't have to pull from v4. Any donations will be added to the prize. If I could get a streamer to stream some matches that would be dope, if not I'll just make a twitch and stream. Rules: Location: Silph Co. Hosts: Myself(pls halp) As a last note I'm gonna talk about the selection of players. Some of the players who are gonna be on the list I hate, some I like. The bases for selection is a combo of mm and tournament success. The last 4 open slots covers for anyone I missed and the extra players opinions cover for the biased host. If even after that u don't agree with my choices, suck it up its my yen I'm gonna do what I want with it. But to end on a positive note, come out for a good time of "high level" matches and to prove your the best player(jk im not playing so its invalid).Min of 16 players to start, if we don't get 16 fine by me I save a lot of yen. (Accepting donations) Welcome to the Player Cup. A two-day tournament to determine who is the best OU player of PokeMMO of the season. August 16th edit: Change of plans Because of the Team Tournament being announced at the 22nd of August, which would be the same day as Day 1 of this tournament, I have to make a couple of changes. There will now only be one day of competition. It will be Sunday, 23rd of August, same time as before. We are no longer doing BO3 matches in the top 8. Rather we will have a Swiss tournament of 5-6 rounds and then immediately the top 8 of the Swiss round will be put in a single elimination bracket. This way this tournament will have around 8-9 rounds which will take around 4-5 hours (hopefully). Our first day will consist of a Swiss tournament of 6 - 7 rounds. I'll just correct you on this. This game has an in-game economy to where the time to obtain money, encounter pokemon, finish a battle factor into the pricing of various things that are sold, and the dev team very much so values that they have created such a balanced marketplace. Like they say, time is money. Any change in how fast yen, hold items, or even Pokemon as a whole are obtained throws that equilibrium all out of whack, be it the Luvdisc heart scale farmer being able to spend 5 seconds less per battle obtaining a heart scale, or the gym rematcher which now can complete the gyms 30 seconds faster due to the lack of animations. Having animations turned off would honestly be an 'obtain yen/items faster' toggle for a LOT of farmers in PokeMMO, which isn't a good thing to have. It just becomes the de-facto best option to have turned on for grinders, and puts those at a disadvantage who have the animations turned on either because they like them, or don't know of the disadvantage.

As soon as there will be an option to skip animations, anyone that will not have them turned off will have a disadvantage compared to other players who will. In result, turning animations off will be default setting. Simply removing animation would also still required to actions between all moves to be same for everyone, so tbh, it will be the same thing. It was answered many times by various staff in past that those are one of the reasons to not implement this option and I doubt that it will ever be implemented.

Your definition of a disadvantage seems to differ here. You aren't the only one subjected to this. It is a blanket thing anyway. Everyone is grinding at the same general speed per battle. There is no "single player experience" in an MMO. An MMO is always catered towards a multiplayer experience. The cartridges had this option because that's how the games were initially designed as a single player experience so giving the player everything they wanted in a handheld experience has no adverse consequences. In an MMO giving the player everything they want has severe consequences that result in the game becoming very unbalanced. Just as players seem to forget that PvP isn't the only aspect that needs balanced, the same goes for PvE. All aspects need to be in balance in order for the game to be rewarding for players while still retaining some level of difficulty. This is also something that has been brought up. Last I recall, I do believe the animations were slightly sped up, but there will never be an option for this. In emulators you can speed up to 1000% and lose all control of where you are going. The general rule is that, when you give players the option to speed up everything in a multiplayer game the default speed will inevitably become the fastest setting among the players online. After a period of time, that will feel too slow and then the game will have to be sped up again. There really isn't an effective compromise here simply because you can adjust to the difference in speed such that it no longer feels like there was a change.

Like @ZaCCCCCC says you can click on a player's name in chat to start whispering to them, or you can right click the player's character then click the whisper option. You can also whisper a player by typing the command "/ws playername" (replace the playername with their actual name ofc)

This can also be helpful for newer players as well. Often times when they ask for help for trade evo, and I tell them I can help them in whisper, they don't know where to see/change their channels. If they can simply link their location like they link their pokes, that'd be helpful.

You must be in a shock to know that most of the ranked games I've played had a Pokemon that has zero 31 IVs. Probably makes me a noob but it was good enough for the #1 spot in the ladder. If you expect success in this game with maximized IVs, I have some bad news.
