  2. I mean that's why rng exists, so little kids can grab wins against 500 pound (pure muscle) adults, problem is I have to do ten backflips in the air to make sand end before I can ensure a hit against a Garchomp in an offensive team otherwise I may just risk one of the things that can steadily revenge kill it. The Cloyster issue apparently already has a solution going on, hopefully they don't go through with the ridiculous idea of it simply announcing "Hey idiot, you're gonna get flinched to death, good luck!" Cursed Body Gengar is also awful, I won too many games through disabling a mon's attack and then setting up when they were helpless, I was against this change since the beginning but people who have never played competitive had the final word.

  3. I would like to stress this point, Dugtrio is a very unhealthy mon to have in the game full stop. It gets banned in some way or another in pretty much every gen on smogon (apart from gen 3 iirc). Removing autonomy from a player results in that player having a sour experience, I'd argue Dugtrio in any gen or tier could find a way to abuse this. While Dugtrio appears to not be performing that great that is irrelevant, Dugtrio is just there to remove some specific threat(s) to open up a sweep. Sure you can setup right away when it secures a kill (e.g. flying mon on locked eq) but the Dugtrio player decides if they want that to happen. If anything Arena Trap is the culprit in all of this, you could argue to revert Dugtrio's base attack nerf and to ban/nerf Arena Trap from the game after as some sort of solution. However, Dugtrio is currently NU and it would seem a bit weird to do something so drastic to a mon in that tier. In regards to my inactivity I guess I'm just bored of playing mons at the moment, there hasn't been any significant updates in a long while and I couldn't bring myself to keep repeating the same stuff over and over. Should I still be in the tc? I don't really know but I still lurk from time to time and gather my own opinion on things so take that as you will.

  6. Bringing out the winrate of a meta-centralizing Pokemon misdirects the conversation quite badly. If you look at any large Smogon tournaments' statistics, the metagame defining threats often have sub-50% winrate because these Pokemon are so heavily teched against and when they win they usually won a mirror-match. When a trapper gains such significant usage as Dugtrio does, people are building entire teams to try to render Dugtrio as useless as possible. Is that a smart decision by the player to deal with the problem of Dugtrio's prevalence, probably. But is it good for a healthy and diverse metagame where people should have as much creativity as possible to build a well-rounded team? Absolutely not.

    'Classic' Server

As an older player, I often look back at the pre-Unova tiers with a lot of nostalgia. With some inspiration from other games, it occurred to me that it would be an awesome idea if a secondary, retro server was implemented that was formatted to the old gen 3 game. Much like how WoW and Runescape have their respective old school servers, it could be a server rolled back to a time before GTL and automated matchmaking/tournaments, so that we could really relive the good old days of having to spam in vermilion to find a 6v6 tm ou battle.

  8. So people just need to copy your teams now instead of running the mons they´d like to run, because your "original" builds don´t struggle with duggy at all. They can also just play stuff that sets up on duggy, right? Like biba/samu - inferior feras or lilli, thats been shit for ages, or SD (?) zard, because slowbro in the tier makes set up zards so damn amazing, ooooor mantine...? Any other random unrelated shit mon you suggested? The fact your builds don´t struggle with dugtrio doesnt make it any healtier. And if your opponent has a dugtrio and it does nothing vs a cb blaziken in your team, then that opponent might be less good than you are trying to sell here, so i really am struggling to figure out how that pararaph has any essence at all. Being able to set up on a certain mon doesnt make it any healthier and if you can prep for dugtrio killing your mons to set up afterwards, maybe your opponent can prep for that as well? If you set up on it, it probably did its job already. Dugtrio not preventing games from being played (whatever that even means) doesnt mean it isnt stupidly restrictive in building and playing. Maybe its because of language barrier (though i kinda doubt that), but your arguments aren´t good arguments at all. Or because they are bad, which most people just are. Heard good players are able to build teams around certain mons without the team being bad. - Idk how it is hard to see that dugtrio is unhealthy af for the tier. It turns running certain mons - not even just offensive ones - into mu fishing shit fests. Im not playing anymore (partly because tiering in this game is just a fkn farce [,so thanks i guess]), which means i can just sit back and watch you guys break the roserade ban refusal record with dugtrio in peace. That ignorance is just baffling however, considering all the reasonable input of well known players thats been gathered already.

  9. I actually can. Situation when Dugtrio removes a mon but still loses because the rest of the team is shit/ player is bad. Ban delibird. It's consistent (14/20 winrate). Seriously, stop trying to use usage/ winrate as an argument, especially if you're staff, because this is making you look like you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about Munyu. If you want to defend a pokemon, use damage calcs, provide specific situations from fights to prove your point. For your own sake.

  13. A Pokémon is uber if, in common battle conditions, it can consistently set up a situation in which it makes it substantially easier for other pokemon to sweep. this is legit what dugtrio does lol

  14. We believe that the intentions behind these lines were innocent, particularly with Fire Red being a remake. Gen 3 changed a few things that the developers/translators felt weren't acceptable from gen 1, including some trainer classes (e.g gambler -> gamer), and some lines of dialogue that came off as inappropriate. Some of the lines you're asking to remove have also made it into Let's Go, a very modern iteration of the region. We don't think these lines warrant removal, sorry. If you want to continue playing without them, you can modify your game files as described above by @Mint2B.

I would personally go for the ban

  16. You're citing to the wrong piece of evidence to prove a lack of consistency in Dugtrio's ability to set up a situation to enable something to sweep. How is Dugtrio's winrate going to show you whether it consistently sets up a situation that makes it easier for another pokemon to sweep? A lot of factors go into affecting Dugtrio's winrate -> RNG such as the sweeper missing a move which stops it from sweeping, a crit on the sweeper when it tries to set up, a player who doesn't utilize the sweeper efficiently to sweep, the remaining 5 members of a team solely being responsible for winning without Dugtrio's support etc. The only way to show Dugtrio's ability to set up a situation that makes it easier for another pokemon to sweep is by looking at replays and seeing what options players have to dance around it or data like what kind of sweepers Dugtrio supports such that the tier's answers to those sweepers are susceptible to being trapped etc. I'm definitely not knowledgeable about the current NU meta, but I just wanted to point that those numbers alone will not help reflect Dugtrio's state in the tier. And it is so hard to argue with this when you don't give us the breakdown of the votes. Your statement could also mean that 3 people on SIA voted to not ban Dug while only one voted to ban it, which is still bothersome. I'm not saying Madara / Mkns are biased or that they make tiering decisions based on what they feel benefits their team, because they're better than that. What I am saying is that they may not subconsciously realize how much their playing style/mentality is affected when they are surrounded by like-minded players within a team and how that's been the case for years.

I'd say yes! The less you have to tryhard in there, the more realistically you can play both servers. And newcomers who are used to vanilla pokemon already don't appreciate the current breeding system. They may find a home in oldschool server as well.

  22. As much as I understand your arguments about Typh and Blaziken, keeping one uncompetitive pokemon in the tier to check other potentially broken mons is not an answer (to be completely honest I also do perceive Blaziken as a potentially OP mon in the current NU metagame, but that's a topic for another time. Typh is totally fine, though). Sorry for late response but I've been stupidly busy lately. I'm not comparing Wobbu and Dug usability-wise. I compared their base stats to give you an example that not necessarily they determine whether or not a pokemon should be banned. I don't see Drapion really being very common. Very common are Slowbro, Rotom, Venusaur and Blaziken and none of them are getting trapped and killed by Dugtrio unless heavily damaged (even Blaziken, as 75% of the time it has Scarf). Check all top usage mons- we are restricted in using same pokemons over and over so our walls/ sweepers won't get trapped and killed by it. There are only few exceptions (Typh and Drapion, I don't want to include Golem as it has Sturdy). Playing a surprising set/ different set in PSL or World Cup is totally different than playing in matchmaking. Would you run a CB Blaziken in matchmaking, where 1/8 teams got a Dugtrio? In PSL or WC you can scout your opponent, check if s/he was using Dugtrio at some point and prepare accordingly. I don't really understand the "opinion" of Dugtrio's unhealthiness for the tier. This isn't an opinion- it's a fact, that this pokemon restricts people from teambuilding around pokemons that can get trapped and killed and as long as it's in the tier, most of those pokemons will not see the daylight. This isn't how a healthy metagame should look like. I appreciate your approach when it comes to making decisions as TC and I really wish all people on your board would follow a similar principle. But don't misunderstand: you are supposed to make decision to benefit the players, and right now, large amount of them wants Dugtrio banned and we are not talking here about 300-400 ELO players, but decorated veterans that know what they are talking about. We disagree with the term of "broken pokemon" regarding Chomp and Pory as well. From what I see, a pokemon is "broken" for you when it destroys walls. Dugtrio does not do that- it supports the walls by removing sweepers. It is not an offensive uber, it's a support uber. It will never destroy an entire team on it's own, but it will support the team to a degree that another mon will actually sweep. And I don't see anyone saying that this ability is "boring". Stall is boring, yes, but I can bring stallbreakers as a counterplay. For Dugtrio's Arena Trap there is no counterplay. I get trapped and killed without being able to do anything.

  23. It would be like the Opelucid City Gym, a spot that teleports you next to the Gym Leader. I think having to do the entire gym path just to have the rematch is really boring. If you want it balanced for farming, teleporting could take the time that it takes to go across the gym from the amulet coin timer.

    The Breeding Guide

*Not so new anymore kek What is the goal of this guide? 1. To explain the basics of the new breeding system. 2. To explain how to acheive a perfect 6x31, correct nature pokemon, and how much it will cost (on a monetary level). 3. To also provide a more "economical" approach to the breeding system. 4. If you wanna know how much breeding might cost you, check out OldKeith's Guide What is NOT the goal of this guide? 1. To argue about whether or not the breeding system should be changed. 2. To complain about losing pokemon in the process. 3. To vent anger at the system. 4. i.e. Anything not related to receiving/giving help with breeding Disclaimer: This is a TEXT HEAVY, Graphic Minimal guide. If you just want to know the basics of the new breeding, then read the numbered list below. If you want to know how to breed what you want, then delve into the sea of text in any of the following three sections. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A Basic Breeding Video (Highly recommend watching, especially if you don't like to read): ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So, here are the most important mechanics in the new breeding system: 1. Both parent pokemon are traded away to the daycare couple and will NOT be given back to the player. 2. Two parent pokemon will produce ONE egg (no more, no less). 3. An egg will hatch over a period of time (no steps or flags anymore). 4. One can give an everstone to a parent with a desireable nature to have a 100% chance of passing that nature down to the offspring (the everstone WILL be consumed along with the parents). 5. Three IVs are passed down directly from the parents to the child. The other three IVs are then calculated by the averages of the parents, which are rounded down. 6. One can use a brace, which can be bought from a NPC who resides in each daycare for 10k each, and these braces can be given to a parent to ensure that a specific IV of your choice is passed down to the child (this DOES count as one of the three directly inherited IVs for the child). 7. If a pokemon has two potential abilities, then there is an 80% chance that the mother's ability is passed to the offspring. 8. The player is capable of switching a pokemon's ability with a consumable item; thus ability breeding is not a concern at the moment (mechanics for abilities will change in the future as stated here). 9. You can choose the gender of the egg for a fee, listed in the spoiler below, which scales with the species' gender ratio (the more unbalanced the ratio, the more expensive). 10. Genderless pokemon of the same evolution line (i.e. a magnemite and a magneton) can breed together. Note that you still cannot breed two dittos together (but ditto still can breed with any other pokemon). 11. Hidden Power breeding is mostly pointless, since you can get a 6x31 pokemon with any hidden power you want thanks to typed gems (look up mysterious gems). 12. This is a useful guide for egg move breeding. 13. You can shiny breed in this game. 2 regular parents give normal (1/30,000 + modifiers) odds of getting a shiny. You cannot breed a normal pokemon with a shiny pokemon. If you breed 2 shiny pokemon together, the offspring will be shiny. The IV's are passed in the following manner: 2 IVs are randomly selected, but can be dictated by Breeding Braces 2 IVs are randomly selected, but they choose a stat (of which cannot already be selected by the previous bullet point), and then picks the higher IV between the two parents the remaining 2 IVs are averaged between the two parents. Bred shiny pokemon's OT is determined differently than regular breeding. If the offspring pokemon is of the same evolution line as your OT shiny, then the offspring will have your OT. So, for example, you have a male shiny Charmeleon, and you breed with a random OT shiny female Charizard. Even though the female parent isn't your OT, the offspring Charmander will have your OT. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ -credit to RacheLucario This section lists out step by step how to get a perfect 6x31 pokemon with the correct nature. Open the spoiler below (WARNING: prepare yourself for a wall of text and numbers) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This section is to give an example to a budget breeder's guide to breeding for a competitive pokemon. The goal is to get as close to a 31 speed and 5x25+ pokemon as possible with the least amount of money. This will use a lot less braces than the 6x31 section.

  38. its consitent in what it needs to do for example it can support a mono psy setup mon really easily from all dark types the right dugtrio set trap them all and ko them. (if they use like 2/3 dark types you have a problem but then the tembuild is just bad) dugtrio can consistently trap the dark type users to let the mono psyshic mon sweep the only problem is honchkrow so that makes a little inconsistent. But honchkrow is from all dark types the mon you can easily chip down cuz its weak to rocks and physical attacker so take chip from helmet so it cant come in a lot. my point is unlike other support mons dugtrio never fail in what it needs to do since you cant avoid it if your trapped the mon its gone.
