my two cents are that psl gets stale after a long time without changes. trotting out the usual psl14 general thread and donations would have created a short burst of "hey cool" and then complete radio silence until manager's thread, then player signups etc etc. gb clearly saw an opportunity to stir the pot right away with a very controversial new system that is, ultimately, designed to increase donations to psl. At the same time, there have been quite a few players from past seasons who were potentially not punished further due to the "new host doesn't abide by previous bans" unwritten rule. The cool part about this system is it's very clear which of the banned players the community will rally to defend and allow to play, and which are perhaps truly deserving of the ban - with no one even bothering to defend them. One random wealthy dude tried throwing his money at keeping a player banned and committees started forming in back rooms plotting to keep him around, while most of his posts received respectable support and random wealthy dude continuously gets crickets. If that's not an indication of whether he should be allowed to play or not, I don't know what is, and this system shone a spotlight on that. I think there were obviously flaws, easy to point them out in hindsight, but overall it's been a pretty good ride.

I don't think anyone thinks that there's any problem with you participating in the auction (at least I personally don't). The problem is that the auction has a rigid end time that only you know, and you've stated in discord that you might take advantage of that by dropping an uncontestable bid right before the deadline. You compare later this to a real auction where the auctioneer would upbid themselves because they're not satisfied with the outcome, but in a normal auction, if a bid is done sniped like that, there would be a grace period to let people upbid. The fact that you're taking advantage of the auction like that and are asking for the money early would ring bells and think that it might be a scam, when as it is it already somewhat looks like one when the results are already rigged. The fact that Paul doesn't want to pay early with the addition that you've made doesn't mean that he wouldn't have paid up in the first place, especially when he donated significant amounts in previous PSLs: it shows that there are legitimate reasons for him to not trust the current system.

Would be kinda badass to see some of these C-Tier candidates perform in tournaments to up their score. Let's go BAEnineXL

Actually its the best way to pick managers. Isn't perfect, but isn't like "I like him, him and him". If you want to do something as competitive as possible I think this is the best way, maybe hard for new/inactive players but well, no system is perfect. This system + court auction = 10/10

Well, I heard about a case that a friend of mine when he moved to another region was written jotho, as if he already had it. And seeing this topic only confirms his theory that Jotho is coming. After all, what else can pokeMMO bring again? just jotho because I think that the next 3 generations are almost impossible to add, I've seen the administrators saying that jotho is not a priority but in my opinion it should be number 1 :)
