  1. What is this? This thread is being opened to discuss Serperior and its dominant existence in the Overused Tier (OU). Characteristics - Serperior`s speed is great and can get momentum really easily, the only mons that outspeed it in OU are: Starmie, Weavile, Jolteon and Dugtrio. Out of that list only weavile is the most popular revengekiller that with support of teleport for example will shut down the momentum of Serperiors Wrath. -The abillity Contrary, is what makes Serperior deadly. lt gives Serperior a +2 boost instead of -2, which means using leaf storm makes Serperior a threat in OU. Serperior may also get an evasion boost after switching into a potential defog which makes it difficult to handle. -With 75 HP, 95 DEF and 95 SPDEF, Serperior tanks hits more easily than the average OU mon. Calcs: Sets on Serperior: Subtitute Leech Seed, Glare, Leafstorm Subtitute ,Leech Seed ,HP Fire, Leafstorm Subtitute, Glare, HP Fire, Leafstorm Leafstorm, DragonPulse, HP Fire, Glare -Notable moves: Taunt (Blissey, Chansey, Golbat, Crobat etc denies the teleport and denies recovery) HP Rock (Pairing it with magnezone so u got coverage for steel types in general) Checks/Counters: -Calm Weezing (3% usage, Bold weezing 90% is more popular) denies Serperior`s boost which makes it difficult to set up but is vulnerable to Glare/Leech sets. -Calm clefable with unaware completly ignores the stats boosts from Serperior but is also vulnerable to Glare/Leech sets. -Volcarona good typing, perfect bulk and stab that goes through subtitute makes Serperior think twice before setting up. But is vulnerable to Glare/HP Rock -Chansey/Blissey +Weavile or scarf sweeper, teleport to give momentum to your fast sweeper. -Crobat/ Golbat in general is good vs Serperior, Glare/Rocks/Leech hurts it a bit. Also with U-turn Golbat can deny Serperior set up with subtitute and can safely go to your fast sweeper. Feel free to give your input and discuss away

  2. Aight I wasn't planning on post here anytime soon but the insatisfied on me is screaming louder than myself. Serp is arguably the most restraining mon in the tier for me and I haven't seen people point this out too often but what makes it broken is not only its own presence but having to prep for both it and Conk. What I mean by that is, unless you take a flying slot like Togekiss or Mandibuzz + a bulky ghost slot like Jelly or Cofa you are pretty much always locked into using Weezing or Golbat to defensively check this combo which is also not flawless, I don't even consider Crobat as a good measure to this cuz the bulk difference between it and Golbat is honestly pretty considerable and Serp can nullify the one advantage it has compared to Golbat via Glare, its speed. Serp itself is a problem and very, VERY annoying to prep against but when you take into account it + Conk and even Chomp things get too overwhelming. Talking about Serp as a standalone, it doesn't really change as my point of view of it being broken, nothing checks it consistently well, Golbat is very annoyed by rocks but it is imo the best Serp check in the tier, Weezing has to go for Bold 99% of the time since its usually also the Conk check for the team its in and imo Weezing is just passive and only works on balance on top of it relying on Pain Split to heal while it takes ~30% if Bold. Chansey + Weav is alright but also not close from consistent since +6 Leaf Storm starts doing around ~60% to Chansey and Chansey itself is owned by Leech Seed sets while Weavile really has to think twice as to whether it clicks Spear or Pursuit (btw I've idealized Protect Serp for this reason too on top of scouting any Scarfer's intention since Serp is so fast), Clef is outright bad imo on top of only fitting stall and Volcarona is not consistent at all as a check with how common Glare is on top of having to make sure rocks is always off. Ah and I didn't even mention how free it is to hard Serp on the most popular defogger in the tier which makes an awkward mon to check even more awkward. Building in OU has gone so unilateral (and boring) that I just started building shit to lure Serp, but that's about it. I would def support a ban or ability restriction.

  4. I agree this mon has become a problem in the tier in its current state. I assume the possible solutions would be: - Remove leaf storm from Serperior (not saying it's right, but they did the same with Garchomp and Hydreigon since they don't like Ubers) - Reduce the base power of Leaf Storm so contrary isn't as effective - Temporarily ban/nerf Serperior until the next batch of HAs are introduced and then reintroduce it when the meta can better adapt - Remove contrary completely (devs admitting that they fucked up with adding certain HAs) TC and Devs - Thank you for this thread, but please think carefully when the next batch of HAs are due to release so we don't have to keep going through this shit

    Implement team logs

    I can't remember if it was @Makarovs or someone else who may have suggested it in the past, but it would be nice to have a log in the team chat to keep track of staff and member activity to an extent. Did a rough screenshot edit of how it should look below: Pros: Can find out who left the team which can help with adjusting Discord permissions accordingly Can help find out the original join date of returning members to the team (may be useful for some unofficial team tournaments being run or TT) Depending on the number of people with permission, you can identify who kicked/promoted which person Personally I think this would be something small to implement which would bring huge benefits.

  7. Let me just quote myself: Posted September 16 (edited) Imo Serp makes the meta game a lot more healthy compared to before. I never had a problem with Conk or Chomp, my main concern in OU is legit Wash when it comes to a healthy meta - and Serp hinders Wash. My pov on Wash is something I can share if people are curious but that's not the matter here I guess. I'd argue that the evasion boost on Defog might be a bit of a problem because it can realistically stop RKing, which might be an issue since we are lacking ways to handle it to some(!) extend and giving it an evasion boost certainly does not help. I don't think it's more disruptive than Conk or other high threat mons in the tier (w/o evasion) but rather helps the meta to some extend tho. And when we are talking about ways to handle it there are more than just chansey tp + RK. Sure glare is something that helps against stuff like Volca but there are more options to consider than just Volca (certain Scizor sets, Venusaur, Roserade) and I don't think we have to talk about the options for RK as those are quite plenty.

  8. I'm sure Rache confirmed that Uber-like legendaries will never be available for pvp. The argument for adding some legendaries is for a significant meta change where Teambuild is not as limited due to the above combinations (conk+serp), and I really don't see a scenario where Heatran or Zapdos could be as problematic as Serperior currently. So no, we're not going to stop suggesting legendaries.

  10. StockMarketMMO - Values Over Time (2nd Edition) Before you read this guide, I would like to thank @Quakkz for your work here on the StockMarketMMO Documentation. Feel free to check out the First Edition of this guide. Check out @ColesNightfill PokeMMOprices Tool for more modernized pricing. Due to this guide's impact here on PokeMMO, I couldn't let this guide expire. Since @Quakkz has officially discontinued his StockMarketMMO Guide, I asked around for people who were interested in taking over the project. Unfortunately, no one was interested in this endeavor. Thus, I knew exactly what to do next; I asked @Quakkz if I can have the green light to take over this project. Important note, there are no solicitations or donation options in the Guide. Everything is free of charge (some people want to solicit donations for information and I do not feel right about this). Upon receiving permission to carry on this guide's impact here on PokeMMO, I planned for some slight changes to make documentation a little simpler: 1. The new method will require a Google Sheet. 2. Price Updates can occur only under three conditions: Whenever I feel that it is right for prices to be updated. When a change has been made to a vanity (Vanity Animation being added, A new vanity has been added, etc.). When a comment on forums asks for an update on today's prices. I ask the Global Trade Link Day Traders to please take it easy on frequent comments. , If there is no significant change with the prices of multiple vanities, then I may reject the request to update. 3. There may be some outside help with my documentations. 4. The Dating Style will be formatted in the American way instead of the Global format (9/4/2022 instead of 4/9/2022: September 4th, 2022). 5. If the price is not listed on the Global Trade Link, then the price of that vanity can be cited as "unknown." 6. Gains will have the whole tab in green and Losses will be in red. I made sure that the colors were light enough for legibility.   11. I hope this gets the attention of my fellow PokeMMO enthusiasts! In PokeMMO gym runs are a very important asset in the PMMO community. Without this cash flow, the game economy would cease. The efficiency of these gym reruns are of the utmost importance for the players, economy and our emotional well-being xD While doing my previous gym runs, I noticed that some gyms require you to solve the puzzles before facing the gym leader (post E4). While keeping to that classical Pokemon feel, it reduces the efficiency of the run and in turn lowers the cashflow in the game, i.e. people gain less money from a gym run due to time constraints on amulet coins etc. I would like to request that all gyms, when you have completed that region, have some type of shortcut. Gyms like Mistralton City, Mossdeep City, ect. Opelucid had a teleport pad reworked to teleport you directly to the gym leader and that was amazing! So please Devs, you would be saving us a lot of time and resources if you could allocate this function for all gyms across all four regions! Thank you for the read! TL;DR: Please add teleport pads/an alternative way to reach the gym leaders, during gym reruns, without having to solve the entire gym puzzle.

  13. (I'll repeat myself from a different thread) My stand is that Serp should be either banned to Ubers or restricted from using it's Contrary ability. To put it short and simple, we do not have the necessary tools to handle it, tools that did exist in the metagames where it was absolutely fine. We do not have Heatran, Moltres, Victini, Tornadus-T, Azelf (not a direct counter but a decent check due to it's speed and movepool) and our Amoonguss does not have access to Regenerator which would be potentially available in the metagame, while some of the hard counters which were in gen6 (that's the Contrary Serperior's first metagame) are completely unavailable due to lack of gen6 (such as Talonflame, Mega Pinsir, Mega Altaria, Mega Zard Y or even a check in Mega Lopunny). That makes 11 mons that I was able to list from the top of my head, which were being used more or less commonly in gen6 ou that we do not have here. E: There's also mega saur and I kinda feel stupid for not mentioning it, because I used it myself to counter Serp in gen6 ou lol

Now considering I beaten the leagues with the same team of 6 (excluding the first 4 gym badges needed for travelling, that team was nox31 reject dex entries from my main account) I always write this off because it is possible. Get the first 4 badges of Unova using said reject team (1team) and beat all 4 regions in unison with another team (1team) As long as you take note of the level caps and focus on lowest one, what can go wrong? There's 2 teams saved you from making. Whats stopping me from grinding to Lv.100 for a easy sweep of the Elite 4? I know you can do this in the core games, but why turn off the level cap for the final stretch of the region? Unlike the core games, for the first time you fight them, your team is healed inbetween battles. They could have just left it. Plus, as long as your team is close to the level cap then the Elite 4 is really not hard. Having a slight level advantage helps.

This follower mod builds on the work of everyone who contributed to the various versions that came before it, and as such would not be possible without the hard work of everyone who has contributed to the follower mods so far! With that said, this mod aims to forward all updates and fixes from previous versions, correct some issues with the previous versions, add missing sprites, and pre-emptively prepare for the arrival of Legendary and Mythical Pokémon if/when we get access to some of them. This guide is written in English CLICK HERE (<- Español y/o Portugues). 中文翻译 (Chinese translation) Hello PokeMMO Shiny Hunter \o/ I have been considering writing a shiny hunting guide for a while as there is no detailed one out there. In addition, I thought it would be the perfect time to create a shiny hunting guide due to my blessed RNG in 2020 (link). What will you gain and learn from reading this guide? Firstly, this guide will contain a shiny hunt introduction that will provide you with basic knowledge about the PokeMMO shiny rates and possible modifications that can increase your odds of finding a shiny. In addition, I will also introduce you to the use of Sweet Scent and the nerdy aspect of binomial distribution calculation of shiny hunting. Secondly, I have added a short section about the most common methods in the aspect of PokeMMO shiny hunting (horde hunting, single encounters, egg hatching and hunting in the Safari Zone). Furthermore, I have added a short section about helpful shiny hunting tools that can benefit you throughout your hunt, including an Encounter Counter and a HD Sprite shiny mod. Lastly (for now), a section with useful website links and guides that are useful or interesting for your shiny hunting. In summary, I will humbly teach you all about shiny hunting in PokeMMO. Are you looking for inspiration about what to hunt? If you are looking for ideas about what to hunt, I recommend looking in one of my best Pokébud's detailed 2020 All Horde Locations - EV and Shiny guide. You can find every horde location in that guide - and it can provide you with interesting and alternative EV training spots if you feel like avoiding that shiny Tentacruel. As an introduction, Shiny Pokémon can be met anywhere in the wild (or from eggs). Known methods from the original games such as Mesuda and chain fishing are NOT implemented in PokeMMO, and thus you will have to settle with the set shiny rate in PokeMMO. In fact, we all know that the shiny rate in PokeMMO is 1/30000, which can be modified to 1/27000 with Donator Status or approximately 1/24300 with Donator Status + Shiny Charm (+10%) and so on: In summary, this means that you, for each encounter/hatch of one Pokémon, will have a chance of either 1/30000, 1/28500, 1/27000, 1/25650 or 1/24300 to encounter/hatch a shiny depending on the active modification of your account (see above-shown Spoiler section). This includes all sort of encounters, including wild encounters, egg hatching, swarm encounter and fossil reviving etc. In addition, it is NOT possible to breed non shiny Pokémon with a Shiny Pokémon: Important to remember: There is no stacking of encounters in PokeMMO The system doesn't track your encounters. This means that even if you are at your FIRST encounter or your 123456th encounter, the chance is still either 1/30000, 1/27000 etc. If you want your shiny, you have to be dedicated and patient. Whenever a shiny Pokémon appears it will appear with its alternative color, a sparkle and with "Shiny" in front of its name: Interested in more nerdiness about shiny hunting? If we are looking at the above-mentioned in addition to considering a binomial distribution, you can roughly estimate your shiny percentage chance (X = %) based on your encounter amount (Y): The best way to increase your chances of finding a Shiny Pokémon: The best (and fastest) way to increase your chances in regards of shiny hunting is using the Sweet Scent move () to encounter hordes. Sweet Scent can be used almost anywhere (grass, water, ground etc.) to bring forward a horde of Pokémon (2x, 3x or even 5x Pokémon at the same time). In fact, when you encounter a Pokémon horde, each of the (2x, 3x or 5x) encountered Pokémon will have their own chance to be shiny (1/30000 per Pokémon). In theory (based on a binomial considerations), this means that when you encounter a horde of either 2x Pokémon, 3x Pokémon or 5x Pokémon, your chances would be increased to approximately (~) 2/30000 equal to ~1/15000 (2x horde), ~3/30000 equal to 1/10000 (3x horde) or approximately ~5/30000 equal to ~1/6000 (5x horde) that one of the Pokémon will be shiny. You can see Desu (PokeMMO Developer) comment about it here. Another fact in the aspect of Pokémon hordes is the fact that there are no limitations as to the amount of shinies per horde (example). In 2016, Desu also stated some interesting facts (in a post) in regards of shiny hunting that are interesting to know for any shiny hunter: Secret Shiny Pokémon has been introduced to PokeMMO! In the update Changelog: 08/06/2022: PokeMMO's 10th Anniversary, Part 1 (link), a new species of Shiny Pokémon was introduced: Secret Shiny Pokémon @DamianTe has already written a nice summary of the new feature, which I have decided to include in this guide (open spoiler section): When it comes to shiny hunting, there are a number of methods that you can use, including 1) encountering Pokémon hordes using Sweet Scent (move), 2) single encounters, 3) egg hatching and 4) in the Safari Zone: 1) Shiny Hunting via hordes (best and fastest method) As a matter of fact, hunting shiny Pokémon via hordes is the best and fastest method as mentioned before: 2) Shiny Hunting via single encounters (for rares) Title says it. You basically hunt single encounters and hope you hit jackpot with the set shiny rate: 3) Shiny Hunting via egg hatching (for rares and elimination of the risk to encounter a common shiny) Egg hatching is the go-to method if you want to hunt rare Starter Pokémon, Fossil Pokémon or other rares without risking the possibility of encountering a common Shiny Pokémon in the progress of your hunt: 4) Shiny Hunting in Safari Zone This section will contain legal shiny hunting tools that can be of use to you for your hunts. Anything posted here are in compliance with PokeMMO's Code of Conduct. 1) The best way to keep track of your number of encounters: @Fixedgaming is one of our very best tool developer. He has developed a very solid Encounter Counter that keeps track of your hunt. I am sharing this, as I believe that knowing your encounter amount is what is the most important motivational factor when shiny hunting. As an alternative to this tool, you can just count your Leppa berries. @Gilan is also one of our very best tool developer, and he has created the newest encounter counter, which I believe most of the community is currently using for their shiny hunts: [TOOL] Gilan's Encounter Counter 2) HD Battle Sprites to distinguish shinies from nonshinies: @Verdep posted a very nice HD Battle Sprite mod that can be very important to use whenever hunting shiny Pokémon that looks a lot like their normal form. Installing the shiny package will help you not mistakenly fleeing from a horde containing a shiny.   21. Hi there, As you can tell by the title I have recently been working on a UI Redesign Concept for PokeMMO. I have a lot of previous graphic design experience, and one of the fields I enjoy working on the most is GUI design. I really enjoy PokeMMO, however at times I feel that the UI can be frustrating to navigate, and although the current UI does fit with the game pretty well. I feel like it could be a lot more modernized, clean and generally more optimized for ease of access and better appearance, which is what I have attempted to do here. I first thought about making a theme, however after looking into it and reading some forum posts I realized that it would restrict a lot of what I was hoping to change, so I decided to make a full-blown concept instead for a new more engaging and pleasing UI. I would like to clarify that this is NOT a theme/mod It is only a concept and at the moment there is no way to FULLY implement this into the game. I am considering making a theme or possibly a mod that allows for the complete changes and additions I have made to be included properly, however that would take some time and research so I decided to get some feedback from the community first. Below are some of the screenshots of the concept UI as well as comparisons (mine on the left) with the current UI being used in the game. (I am in no way criticizing the current UI) however I do believe some things could be changed and optimized for a more user-friendly clean experience. The current UI does an amazing job at sticking with the classic retro Pokémon look, but in my opinion PokeMMO is growing into a more vast and complex game that incorporates the classic feeling of the original Pokémon games and also that of an amazing MMO and believe the UI should also branch towards that. Feel free to look through the screenshots, the UI is not fully completed and a lot of things are still in the works, (such as a Login Screen, Store Menu, Breeding Menu and more.) This is what I have completed so far; Pokémon Summary Character Inventory / Bag Hotbar / Toolbars Global Trade Link Trainer Card PC Deposit Box Party Bar Chat Box Minimap (New) Top Left Display Battle Screen I would appreciate any feedback/suggestions or general opinions from the community and let me know what you would like to see for future concepts!   23. Ver 0.9 (still) If you downloaded this mod before June 9th 2022, please delete that one and install this newer version. The mod has been tweaked and fixed for the first anniversary of PokeMMO. Any new changes made to the game that allows us to further add and tweak this mod, we will work on it. We have been waiting for gendered icons to fully claim this mod as finished but it has not rolled around yet. *The latest fix/patch was correcting left over sprites laying around in the mod folder, and proper numbering for a couple Pokemon. Download links that stopped working have been fixed. This mod replaces certain genders of Pokémon with X&Y Pokémon That means we can have all the Pokemon still be in the game while certain genders are changed. For example Female Sharpedo is normal Sharpedo, while Male Sharpedo is Greninja. Followers and icons are now added as of Feb 5 2021, for them to work you have to disable the Gen 5 followers mod as it clashes with this one, otherwise you'll have everything else except the followers. Check the images below to get an idea of what the mod looks like. NOT RECOMMENDED TO BREED POKEMON WHILE USING THIS MOD. I'm unsure if this was directed towards me and my post where I included plethora of legendaries, but don't get me wrong Pachi, I totally don't suggest adding legendaries just to counter Serp- I barely noted how many of potential counters from Serperior's first main OU metagame we are missing. Funnily enough, most of them are mega evos and legendaries (Regenerator Amoonguus being the only one non-legendary from those available for us). I don't know if temporary ban for Serperior until a new batch of HAs would make any sense, considering the fact that almost all of Serperior's natural metagame counters are either legendaries, mega evolutions or gen6 mons. I still believe that restricting Serperior from using Contrary until we get legendaries is the way to go. At least we will have a screen setter in NU kappa

  25. Evasion boost is a problem in OU. Defog on Wash is a free switch to Serp which not only grants momentum (which is fine) but also might enable it to dodge RKing (which is not fine).

  27. I feel like this would make defeating the elite 4 much easier than the gyms. Like others have said nothing would stop you from leveling up your Pokemon to 100 (which is quicker in PokeMMO due to hordes). With a halfway decent team that’s level 100 most players would likely have a very easy time. Not to mention that in PokeMMO your team’s healed after each Elite 4 battle.

  28. good answer, Golbat has been the best counter for serpereor but even the serpereor lech seed + Subs wins 1vs1, many people tell me to take it with uturn which seems silly to me because I receive double damage from the rocks (if they are on) and he should sacrifice a valuable move in golbat either toxic or haze for scizor sd who are using him a lot

  29. Disagree with this reasoning (ban ghosts because they spin block you and let rocks on your field?), Serperior is broken not because it switches in on Defog but because it simply doesn't have consistent counters.

I don't think any new Hidden Ability would be able to check Serperior entirely, but imo the following abilities would help to a small degree indirectly: Infiltrator (Chandelure/Crobat/Golbat/Jumpluff/Seviper/Ninjask/Spiritomb) Not only would Infiltrator help vs Serperior, it would also help a lot vs a lot of OU mons that have been deemed problematic at one point or another (Garchomp, Hydreigon, Breloom, etc.) Overall, I believe Infiltrator would not solve the Serperior issue, but would help while being a great addition to the tier. Sap Sipper (Miltank/Azumarill/Girafarig/Zebstrika/etc.) Most of the mons that would gain Sap Sipper do not seem great in OU, but perhaps some of them might become viable thanks to Sap Sipper. It's hard to tell, but it surely wouldn't hurt to have these options vs Serperior even if they might end up as unviable for OU. Technician (Breloom) Giving more raw power to Breloom's Mach Punch might not mean a lot, but against Serperior the extra dmg could end up as impactful in some situations. Also, if we get Infiltrator, Breloom would take a big hit in viability, so it would be nice if it got new tools as compensation. Swift Swim (Armaldo/Beartic) One of the most annoying thing about Serperior is how fast and bulky it is. Armaldo Swift Swim could be a good addition for Rain Teams vs Serperior since it would be able to OHKO Serperior, outspeed it with rain and also it would be able to take a Leaf Storm in the face without dying. Magic Guard (Alakazam) If Alakazam gained Magic Guard, it would definetly become viable in OU and gaining a new mon able to outspeed Serperior would certainly not hurt. Considering there is a chance Alakazam ends up BL2, this could also be its saving grace. The main issue with this addition is that Magic Guard Alakazam might end up as something "too good", so this should require more thoughts. Drought (Ninetales) & Drizzle (Politoed) Weather teams usually have several mons capable of outspeeding Serperior. Giving those teams more weather set up options could only help. Speed Boost (Scolipede/Sharpedo) I'm not sure how viable these would be but, gaining new mons capable of outspeeding Serperior would be nice. Pin Missile Scolipede would definetly annoy Serperior if it tries to hide behind a sub. Ultimately the best ability would most likely be Regenerator since that would make Amoongus extremely viable in OU. However, adding new Regenerator mons would be imo horrible in PokeMMO considering we have a 1 hour time limit for duel and Regenerator mons would open the door for disgusting game exploits. I'm sure other hidden abilities could help vs Serperior, I just listed the ones I think could have a meaningful impact.
